If you walk around the lake, you will be able to see Island from so much different points. You can take a scheduled tour for 11eur per person. Or you can rent a boat for 15eur/hour.

One of the most iconic recognisable places in Slovenia. Your trip to this country would not be complete without coming here in my view. Sure, the cost of such beauty and popularity means the prices are high, especially the pletna (flat bottom boat) trip across to the island. You'll quickly forget about parting with your hard earned cash once you get out on the serine water and experience this peaceful island (our boat gave us 45 minutes before return). If you've got deep pockets you can spend it in the posh looking cafe on the island.
Remember to ring the bell in the church three times and make a wish!

The church of St Mary's is the sole reason to visit the island. Plenty of gift shops and cafes etc. The church itself is pretty, good view from the top of the steeple if a bit of a tough climb for the oldies.

It’s the only island in Slovenia, and they take it seriously. It’s a quick visit, small place, but it’s one of most important attractions in the country. The scenario as a whole is beautiful! Fairy tale. The lake, the castle, the church, the island...

Beautiful light is going on the Island when sunset is coming. There is a place just oposite from the entrance with stairs where you can sit and enjoy in the view on the Island and the Castle.

The gondoliers will take you round trip in their water taxis to the island for a mere €14.00 per person. At least 20 people are in the taxi (think of what this Union is making even if a gondolier only took 4 boatloads of visitors to and fro per day)! The trip takes about 15 minutes one way, depending upon from where you depart. You have about 45 minutes to sight see before your boat returns to shore. This is more than enough time to see everything on this tiny spit of land.

But the real kicker is the charge to get into the church. €6 per person! You have now just spent €20 per person/ €40 per couple.

Just an FYI re the church. You can see the alter in all of its golden glory through a window at the back of the chapel to the left of the entry door. You can even take a photo.

I strongly recommend gazing at the island from the shore and buying a glass of wine or beer with the money you have saved.

Truly pathetic in my opinion.

The short pletna boat ride to the small island of Bled offered stunning scenery. The place has a peaceful and unhurried vibe about it.
Upon arrival, one has to climb the 99 steps that lead to the TOP where the Church of Assumption is situated. The climb is worth it as the place offers a spectacular view of the lake and is a photographer’s dream.
Climb up the 90 steps to the top of the bell tower to have a look at how the ancient bell work. The pattern on the steps cast interesting patterns as the sun shone through. Inside the church try ringing the bell to see if you wish will come through.
Take a little time to explore the nooks of this islet for more stunning view of the lake and the distant mountains that look like ink paintings.
A beautiful place indeed

Walk up the 100 steps for a stunning view of the lake.
We visited in late October with almost no tourists and it was idyllic.
