Hotel Jelovica Bled

We stayed one night in Bled after our holiday in Croatia. So we have chosen the hotel because of it's location at the lake.
we decided to spend a bit more money to have a view of the lake... indeed we've got a room
on the lakeside, however we couldn't catch a glimpse of what we've expected to see...
i think those ways of splitting hairs in a description should be from the past.
the hotel itself is good located ( but nearly all hotels are, because Bled is really small )
rooms are small but sufficient, however prime time is gone ( the hotel in all as well )
rooms are noisy and the church bell started ringing at six o'clock.
the beds are spotless clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly
Bled is absolutely worth a visit but this hotel isn't worth its price.

Misleading information about prices (specifying the price per person instead of two people when I asked for a superior double room).
Elevator door stuck and made frightening sounds
TV didn't work
Gym was not open in the morning
Had only one bicycle for rent
Doesn't sound much like a 3 star room for 120 euro pe rnight, does it?

Room Tip: avoid this hotel

Just returned from Jelovica happier than when I went. Having read some of the earlier reviews of the Hotel, I was sceptical. But for a 3 star rating hotel, it fulfilled our needs. It could maybe do with a little bit more lounge area, but as the majority of guests are walkers, they are ready for an early night. Rooms with a lake view, with or without the trees, have the benefit of the sun on the balcony all day. Which for us is a bonus after a mornings exercise. Would stay there again if returning to Bled. Wine in the hotel, very cheap and dining staff very helpful. Beds were extremely comfortable, not your normal double size.

Room Tip: Fourth floor and you can see some Lake through the trees.

A reasonable hotel, but I expected better for the price. The room was on the small size including the bathroom. Two single beds pushed together is not a great alternative to a double bed particularly with separate single duvets. Great shower and balcony on the 'lake view' was pleasant. However the lake view should be described as 'lake view if you can see through the trees'. Wouldn't have stopped me booking originally, but when you are advertised a lake view it would be nice to be able to see the lake. In the winter it would be true when there are no leaves on the trees.

Only tried breakfast in the large restaurant and it was the normal European type offering. Meats, cheeses and salad with breads. Hot food available, but if you enjoy an English cooked breakfast then this will not be for you. Plenty of squashes and flavoured teas, but no standard English tea. I appreciate I was not in England, but with so many English visitors I would have expected the hotel to accommodate for the general tastes better than they did.

Situated by the lake so decent location, though you are very close to a church that rings its bells every hour as you would expect, but on a Saturday morning at 7am we counted 166 rings!! There is no lying in at this hotel, which was a shame after celebrating a wedding until the early hours. Nothing of course the hotel could do about this, but other hotels across the lake closer to the shopping area would provide you with enough distance from the church to maybe lay-in if required.

You cannot iron in your room, but you can use the iron in the luggage room if you ask reception which was handy, albeit not completely convenient.

Staff were helpful and pleasant, but the do not disturb sign is pretty well ignored as the cleaners will knock on the door to clean anyway. An over eager cleaner even unlocked and opened the door whilst I was sat on the toilet (door open as wasn't expecting an audience) which was a surprise, but one that my wife found rather amusing. However after cutting her leg and getting blood on the bed clothes, we still had the same sheets and duvets when we returned in the evening. Appreciate we could have then requested they be changed, but we were tired and went to bed anyway.

Clean, comfortable hotel with a great location. Good value for the money. Breakfast was disappointing. Large selection of items for breakfast but not very appetizing. I would recommend the cafe next door for great coffee and drinks.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the castle

Great Location. Friendly helpful staff. Large clean rooms. Incredible breakfast buffet. Free, fast wifi connection. Buffet dinner (4 courses) for just 9 euros per person. Space to park the Car. Located right on the lake. Great value for money and would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: I would imagine all rooms are quite nice

I and my family regularly visit Slovenia and Bled is always a part of our holidays before we proceed down south to the coastal towns of Portoroz & Piran... Although we've tried other hotels in the lakeside area of Bled, I and my family have been coming to Hotel Jelovica now for a straight 2 years. It may not be as luxurious as the other hotels where we previously stayed but it is certainly the warmest and friendliest of them all! Our apartment/suite is large enough to accommodate my family of 4 adults and 2 kids. It has 2 spacious bedrooms, separate toilet and baths, living area and huge balconies with overwhelming view of the lake and the Bled Castle. The hotel also offers a variety of spa/wellness services and also has a small heated indoor pool. The food in the hotel is delicious and the service personnel courteous and friendly. The reception staff are competent and attentive to your needs. The hotel also offers free internet access and a secured parking is available within the hotel grounds. But its biggest advantage is its location right beside a beautiful park along the lakeshore where lovely gondolas await to bring visitors across to the tiny islet where a beautiful church can be found ... To swim, one needs to walk further down the lake where the water is crystal clear...
