“Beautiful lake”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

The lake is huge and the water emerald blue. Plenty of places to hike, eat or rent boats for a trip to the island.

“Just a great 3 days!”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

This trip could not have been better. Used some suggestions from tripadvisor and also went with the flow. Bled is picture postcard beautiful. We had a full 3 days. Walked the entire lake, swam in the lake, took the Plenta Boat out to the island, had a great lunch at Tito's Villa, took a public bus to Lake Bohinj which is larger than Bled and just as pretty. Dinners were at Villa Preseren right on the lake for wonderful views at night, and a little seafood place right in town. Seafood was fresh and well prepared and the beers and wines were top notch. Don't skip the dessert! Its some sort of cream cake and everyone serves it. We had ours out on the terrace at Hotel Park with a nice slovenian brandy. I can't say enough about this area. I had never heard of Bled and am so glad we took a leap and took this trip. Lots of biking, hiking and swimming and the lake also hosts the National Rowing team and if you are lucky you can watch them practice. Best memory besides the beauty was my bike ride to a little town, Radovljica. Lots of bike paths but not all the way. Lots of hills as well but it was worth it. Map the guys at the bike place gave me was well marked and I had no problems. We stayed at the Hotel Kompas which was decent. We did not get a room with a lake view and I am guessing that would have cost more but we basically just slept there. Breakfast was excellent and included champagne if you were so inclined.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

I've told dozens of people in the US that we stayed here and I don't think a singlemone of them had ever heard of it! That's a shame. It's no wonder thatbTito, the former local dictator, used to love coming here. The lake is gorgeous, small enough to totally explore without exhausting one's self and there are many activities. The boat ride is inexpensive, not nearly as time consuming as you'd think and totally fun. The other thing they've done right here is that the only watercraft are non-motorized (in the states, of course, there'd be jet skis buzzing around, ruining the solace). There are multiple hiking trails, a cliff-top castle to visit, a waterfall trail, an alpine summer tobaggon and some great lakeside restaurants. What's more ifmyou fly into the Venice airport, Bled is less than 3-hours by car and the Slovenia highway system is modern and scenic. We stopped here on the way to Budapest, but honestly, Bled can be more than an overnight stopover. You could easily fill-up two or three days here.

“Great place”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Today we made a trip round the lake which took us 1h 45minutes, we are not trained and I think the walk was very nice and easy to take. 70 percent is on asphalt and the rest is natural path.
There are several restaurants to stop in or even a beach to rest on.
