This is a wonderful hotel, in the best location. Make sure you book a balcony room as these are gorgeous with spectecular views.

Some reviewers have said the hotel should update the hotel, I think that would spoil the charm of the place, however it could improve on the service standards. Staff range from very friendly, to very rude. A consistant approach would be much better. There is a language barrier in some cases but this does not excuse rude behaviour.

The restaurant lacks any sort of atmosphere at all! Dress code is not enforced and I found this to be a shame, although some people might prefer the more casual attire that most people wore.

Compared to the service offered around the rest of the world, I am not sure this hotel deserves 5 stars, not once did anyone check back with us and ask us how our food was ..during our meals. Not once did a manager introduce themselves, these are the sort of things I would expect at a 5 star hotel. Food was excellent though and very tasty. Be aware that wine is served in 100ml measures, rather expensive for such small size!

There is a free 30min rowing boat trip included, well worth it. The Gondolas are a lovely outing, as is Bled castle.

Bus to the capital is cheap and runs every hour.
All in all, a really lovely resort, a bit lacking in service skills but well worth it for the location.

If I was to visit Bled again, I would be tempted to try another, cheaper, hotel. ... but I would miss our lovely balcony!

Spent 2 nights as part of group tour, unfortunately didn't have lake views which spoiled it a bit. Plenty of views from the lounge and dining room which helped. Room was comfortable but very warm as the a/c was turned off for all guest rooms, so we were told by reception. Couldnt open windows as we were right on the street.
Very good breakfast and really enjoyed our stay, probably because of the great location right on the lakes edge, easy walk to town also.
TIP, make sure you get lake view room to really enjoy the hotel.

Best view of the lake in my opinion, sitting on the terrace as the sun sets has it's charm. We had our days packed with adventure so even though the room was quite small and old-timey, it didn't bother us much. If anything it added to the whole house by the lake cozy vibe. We took full advantage of the breakfast, the buffet had great choices as did the restaurant. My fiancee is a vegetarian and was very happy when she found out they had a few dishes that were appropriate for her right there, so we didn't have to leave the hotel to go eat out in the evening. The staff treated us nicely and were very helpful right up to the last minute of our stay. If you stay in this hotel I highly suggest a room with the lake view. I definitely want to come back some day.

Just back from 2 week stay at this beautiful hotel in the most perfect situation. The weather was great too. Our room was very small tho we had paid for a lake view which it had. All the floorboards creaked as did the beds.
Enjoyed a swim in the spa every morning tho it was very very cold.
Food good tho they could not cook broccoli which was the vegetable of choice at nearly every dinner.
Had five trouble free days before the first of many groups invaded the hotel and spoilt all the ambience and peace. They did not obey the dress code, took lots of food out of the restaurant ,and were very noisy. When we tried to complain no management were available save a female who said she was the food and beverage manager but had not got a clue how to manage. There was no maître d in the restaurant.
Thanks to Amal on reception who was most helpful as were Milo and Nanard Mak in the restaurant.
Jury is out on whether we will return for a third year.

Lake Bled is a hidden gem of European destinations and the Grand Hotel Toplice is situated perfectly to enjoy the town of Bled, the waters of the lake, and easy access to the 4 mile path that goes around the lake.

This hotel is an old world charmer - elegant, great service. The rooms and bathrooms are large - get a room that has a balcony with lake view. Otherwise all other rooms the balcony faces the street - it is worth the extra cost. Breakfasts are vast, hot and cold options - everything one would desire for a breakfast buffet.

Enjoy a drink on one of their many terraces or public rooms; they offer easy parking and bell/concierge service.

The lounging sun terrace on the lake is fabulous - great views, easy access to the lake, umbrellas and towels. Better than a pool!

For the price, location and elegance, the Grand Hotel Toplice is the place to stay in Bled, Slovenia.
