On a rainy day we decided on impulse to pop into the hotel for a cup of tea and coffee. Superb view from the lounge and attentive service even though we weren't actually staying there. The excellent waiter forgot to bring the bill so we had to find him to ask for it. Very reasonable price especially in view of the wonderful scenery seen through the big picture window.

Great location, great view, good breakfast, but the room was really old style and noisy, they should renovate them. The Hotel Is really historical and charming, built in 1930s (look at the picture in the corridor going to the breakfast, you will found lot of world leaders who have visited the hotel. Too expensive for this room, but it is worth a visit.

Dear guest,

May I first thank you for sharing your experience about your stay at our Grand Hotel Toplice. I am pleased to find out that you liked the location, view and breakfast. There are many guests who enjoy in everything you mentioned.

The hotel was fully renovated ten years ago. We are aware of the fact that it is time to refurbish the rooms again. We are therefore changing TVs this year. Further we put tea kettles into the rooms, offer pillow menu and gift articles catalogue to our guests. We have already made some restoration works on our furniture. I therefore believe that your next visit, which I hope for, will bring you more satisfaction about your stay.

Kind regards from Lake Bled,

Sava Hotels Bled

We were upgraded to a suite in this hotel since we were there a little after prime season. We were given a suite with the lake view. The room was stunning, large and well maintained. The view from the room was even better. The hotel is located next to the casino in bled and also right on the lake across from bled castle.
The Staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful. Would like to thank each one we interacted with for making our stay so great. If you are planning to go to bled and if funds are not a concern would definitely insist you stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: look for a lake facing view as the sitting there through the evening and night would be worth the few extra bucks.

Imagine awaking in the middle of the night, looking out the window and seeing a golden castle radiating in the night sky, perched atop a steep granite cliff swirling in mist, all of which reflected in a glimmering lake below. Sound like a dream? Well for those few lucky enough to stay at Grand Hotel Toplice in Suite 214, it is a dream come true! My husband and I spent an enchanted evening here in early September. After a horrible night at the Vila Bled, we switched to Grand Hotel Toplice and got lucky, receiving this room with a magnificent view. Our suite was cozy but well appointed with a double wide balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the view. The sitting room was nicely furnished as was the bedroom and renovated bath. Not inexpensive at 230 euros but worth every cent for the memory of that view! Also, the hotel staff is fabulous and the breakfast is delicious. My only request of the hotel: please set up coffee for your guests in the lobby for those who wish to indulge prior to breakfast.

Room Tip: Room with a lake view is a must!

We visited the hotel for two nights in August at the very height of European tourist season in 100 degree temperatures, expecting to feel crowded and perhaps with an overstressed staff. We were pleasantly surprised to find otherwise, except for the heat. This Grand Dame of hotels in Bled is supposedly the best in town (altho there is a Relaix & Chateau property farther down the road that was once Tito's private vacation spot) and it tries hard to live up to its reputation. We were given a suite with two rooms and a veranda which extended to both, overlooking Lake Bled and the castle immediately in front of us. it was one of the most stunning views from any hotel room in which we have ever stayed. However, only the separate sitting room was air conditioned and in the summer heat, the bedroom was very uncomfortable in late afternoon until the evening breeze kicked in. A plate of half eaten fruit and empty water bottles, were never removed from the room during the two days we were there, so housekeeping was minimal. The breakfast buffet was nothing to rave about but seating is on a long veranda at lakeside and with hot air balloons rising and dipping over the castle and the town church steeple and swans gliding by, all could be forgiven. The Juliana restaurant, however, cannot be. We were told that reservations (for 7 PM) were essential but when we arrived at the downstairs restaurant a few ;moments after 7 it was dark with only one table set and another (for 10 people) with only napkins on the table and a service trolley next to it with dishes and silverware piled high. When I went back to the front desk to inquire I was told (after a phone call downstairs) that "it is now open." When I returned to the restaurant the lights were on but the air conditioning was never turned on and it was sweltering. The sole waiter who must have been sent down to open the place agreed that it was like a "sauna" (prounounced "sow-oo-nah") and we left. On the plus side was the lakefront deck for swimming which was as close to heaven as one could get in the heat of the day and the surroundings of the lake with the Alps behind imade floating a most enjoyable experience. A close call between "very good" and "average" --too bad there isn't a just plain "good" (better than average but not VERY good). That's where this reviewer lands.

Dear guests,

Thank you for your review.
I apologize for not removing welcome fruit and water from your room. Please accept my sincere apology for late opening of our a la carte restaurant which shouldn't have happened; I already discussed the matter with our F&B manager and will personally make sure that such situation never happens again.

On the other side, I am pleased that you find the rest of your stay comfortable and wish that we have a chance to offer you much better services during your next visit.
Best regards from Bled,
