Bled Castle offers amazing views over Lake Bled and the surrounding area so it's worth visiting for that alone. However, we were blown away by the quality of the food at the small, but perfectly positioned restaurant. The food is fresh, beautifully presented and a clever mix of local and international cuisine. Try the carnelian sausage, other local meats via the antipasti plate and make sure someone orders the Gorenjska Salad. The schnitzel is also delicious and the serving is actually enough to feed two.

We ate in the Castle on the last night of our stay in Bled. The castle itself is beautiful, great views of the lake. We ate on the terrace overlooking the lake. The food was wonderful, as was the service and the accompanying wine. We had the taster menu which was very good value and the food was to a very high quality.

Booking a table lets you see the castle itself for free, which was very worthwhile. An interesting museum about Bled but most impressive are the lovely views over the lake.

The setting for the restaurant is gorgeous, at the top of the castle, magical as the sun sets. Our service was excellent - helpful and fast. We were a party of 4 and had the tasting menu (with variations by diet/preference) at 45 Euros each, plus a bit for wine.

I had an amuse bouche of octopus and cream cheese, then an aubergine starter, pasta second starter and a great fish main, then a meringue and fruit desert. And a coffee/chocolate petit fours. Our nicest meal in Slovenia.

We made a last minute booking for dinner one evening during our stay in Bled. With hindsight we would have planned better as if you pre-book a table at the restaurant you are given free entry to the castle. We didn't go early enough to use the free entry but would again. We were not expecting very much, just hoping for a pleasant meal but how wrong we were. The waiting staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about what they were serving and both my husband and I ordered the 45 euro taster menu. The food was absolutely first class and we were surprised by just how much you got given this was a taster menu. Amongst other things we has octopus carpaccio and latterly filet mignon and it was all superb. The desert was lovely and the whole meal was perfectly topped off by the amazing view, overlooking the lake and the Island as the sun went down. Would highly recommend

I agree the food was good but not spectacular but on a clear day you cannot beat the view. Panoramic you could be in Switzerland even down to the sense of order. Would strongly recommend.
