We enjoyedour dinner at Barbacan, the food was very tasty - dumplings and crab for starters, roast duck, roast trout and porterhouse steak for mains, apple pie for dessert. Beer and wine all added up to $ 90 Australian dollars. Great value for money served nicely in lovely surroundings.

We enjoyed a light polish lunch. The soup served in a bread bowl is particularly nice and filling! The bigos is a mixture of sausage and sauerkraut - hearty and tasty. The prices seemed to be good value for the Old Town area. This is on a quieter street just a minute past the barbicon. Horse carriages going by every few minutes add to the ambiance.

Barbakan is located just outside the city walls of Old Town, in the pedestrian area. In the summer, the patio furniture is out like everywhere in the Old Town area, nicely decorated with flowers.

We liked that Barbakan served our favorite Polish beer, Zywiec, on draft, and so stopped in for a bite to eat on a sunny August afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised with the food - the duck with apples was delicious, the Perogi was perfectly cooked, and the Zurek was the best we had in Poland. The Rosol was good as well, and the sides were excellent. The prices were moderate for a tourist area, and the service was decent. Americans do have to keep in mind that in Poland, like pretty much anywhere outside the USA, they will not bring your check until you ask for it.

We were full, fat and happy, with the Royal Palace towering in the background, it was a great afternoon at Barbakan.

We got average bigos and soup and horrible service. We had to call the waiter to get a check and then ask a waitress to get him to collect the money.

This restaurant, located just outside the “Old Town” and adjacent to the 16th century barbican that was part of the fortification that encircled Warsaw, serves a number of traditional Polish dishes. The impressive menu offers a wide variety of dining opportunities – roast beef, steak, pork, veal, roast duck, and a number of fish entrees. The servings are large, as are the glasses of beer. Feel free to dress casually.
