My husband and I were on an escorted bus tour of Eastern Europe during September. Having seen so many ancient castles and buildings, we wanted a more personalized experience. We were curious about what life was really like living behind "the Iron Curtain", so I booked this private tour.
Our guide Marcin, promptly picked us up in an old Fiat sedan for the 4 hour tour. While visiting sites and taking pix for us, he explained how Communist rule affected people. He also shared personal stories such as his marching as a schoolchild in May Day parades. The tour ended with a vodka toast to friendship. Dziękuję, Marcin!

I went on a private tour in the end of September this year with a guide called, if I remember correct, Alexander. He was very friendly and had good communication skills. Beside that, as the most important part of being a tour guide, he was very knowledgable, informative and I could really feel that he knows a lot about the history of Warsaw and Poland in general. Definitely recommend to take a tour if you'll be soending few days in Warsaw.

First, don't go if you can't drive stick/manual. Guide Martin is very knowledgeable about Warsaw history. Saw several non traditional sites including gallows, worker barracks, fort and site of ghetto and gun fire. Agency was flexible on scheduling tour time. Native guide allowed us to pick his brain on events and contemporary Warsaw.
