Stayed two nights at this hostel. Booked an all female room.
The location of the hostel is very good, walking distance to most of the main tourist arractions, there was no need to take a bus. Just walk ..
The receptionists were helfpful.
The living room was very cosy and guest can easily relaxed and mingle.
Plenty of shower cubicles.
Breakfast simple but sufficient.
Can also leave luggage after check-out.
Highly recommended

Just to get some context, it's a shared rooms accomodation (6-8 beds) for budget travellers. Nothing like en-suite or sauna. Having that in mind read below.
Rooms were nice and tidy with individual lockers and plenty space, not crowded at all, bathrooms and showers were clean and with loads of hot water, communal areas were also nice and it all included a fairly good breakfast (I mean for what we paid). Wifi worked just like at home and the heating seemed to be always on (which was good because it was incredibly cold outside).
Locationwise, right in the city centre, 10 min walk at most from everything interesting.
Reception staff were friendly and fluent in english.
The rates were cheap, in comparison with other european major cities.
Overall, it was outstanding for the price.

If you just search for some place to sleep the hostel is fine. If you look for personal atmosphere and a place to enrich your travel experience you might go somewhere else. Unless other hostels I stayed in the staff was very distanced. There are loads of rules what not to do and on top: Who needs a cctv camera in the common room?

Pluses: in a quiet area, so I could sleep; female dorm only 3 beds, very good; excellent staff-knowledgeable, speaks good English, efficient; good breakfast, nothing major but wasn't hungry; hot showers; good location to explore Old Town; good transport links.

Minuses: street is not on the map, had a local friend escort me and even he got lost; can be noisy with people walking the corridor and yelling in the common room (football fans !!!) but they close it at 1.00, so that's good.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a small room.

My friend and I stayed at the Hostel Helvetia for two nights recently. The staff was friendly and helpful and offered to give us a few tips on what to see in the city during our short visit. We booked a private two bed room and were surpised to find that we had a small couch as well. The wireless internet worked really well in our room (#5). The location of the place was great as it's close to many restaurants and sites, and it's a short walk to the Old Town.

To enter the building, you must get a four digit code which you get when checking in. It is changed every morning at 7am, so you must remember to check the chalkboard in the hall with the number before leaving. You can ring the doorbell to get in if you forget.

The hostel does charge for towels.

Very good central location.
Good -> checked in for 2 nights, but came very early and they offered me free breakfast which is more like in Hotel than in Hostel. Nice new furniture, clean spacious rooms, good common room with TV and 2 computers. Great and helpfull staff, location nearly perfect - close to every important thing in town as well as Old Town (10 min walking) and yes not on the main road, in rather peacefull street.
Bad -> Pay if you want towels, pay for use of the computers. Also if you are in certain rooms (for example Room no. 1 - toilet is about 15 metars and 2 doors away at the end of the hall.
Overall very good hostel and value for money.
