It was a fabulous and tasteful memorial to a terrible event that until then I had no knowledge about a must visit location at the heart of a beautiful city.

Very strong feelings out of these two monuments. One is in recontrustrion right now but it´s still possible to see it. There is also a text on the building of the uprising with many details.

This monument is fitting and reflective of the brave souls who took part in the 1944 uprising against the occupying German forces. The symbolism of the monument is especially meaningful if you have visited the Uprising Museum or at least refreshed your understanding of the history of the Uprising.

Emotive, powerful, and concentrates the mind on Polish suffering. I had no idea Warsaw had been so decimated during the War. A humbling experience.

I visited the monument early one Sunday morning, and was very pleasantly surprised by how popular it was.
A hundred or more girl guides ( or similar) were there as a form of commemoration and remembrance to those who had died in an attempt to bring freedom to Poland.
The monument with its large standing figures is unmissable. As is the charcoal grey figures descending into the sewers.
