... which we passed by by accident on our way to Stare Miasto/Old Town.
We didn't have the possibility to watch it closer because a lot of school classes surrounded it, but we got a couple of picturesanyway (with school classes... ).

The Warsaw Uprising Monument is a beautiful tribute to the daring and bravery of the Polish people to attempt to free their country of Nazi domination during World War II. It is a fine piece of sculpture and very inspirational.

Since Warsaw was almost completely destroyed during WWII, monuments are the only way to illustrate the brutal fighting and high price paid by the Poles during the war and occupation.

This monument is a touching reminder of the sacrifices made by the people of Warsaw during WWII.

We made a special trip t see this monument and it was worthwhile as it portrays the titanic struggle of the uprising wonderfully. It has power and verve and is very evocative.
There is a second story to be read, that the monument took so long to appear - due to the Communist Authorities ban on such memorials to Polish independance aspirations - so the appearance of this monument in 1989 tells a double story.

Certainly worth a trip to see this.
