Description: Solec 44 runs in Powisle, hiding in an inconspicuous building opposite a hospital, behind a railway embankment. The place, like the chef, evades any labeling; it’s a cross between a bar, a board game club and a restaurant, serving top notch cuisine is a unpretentious entourage. The menu changes every month and the dishes are prepared from ingredients of excellent quality – the supplier of each one is known personally by the chef. The composition of flavors and ingredients are as much crazy as they are brilliant. This is the place where you can discover the taste of snail roe paired with lemon curd and smoked cream, ram testicles in chocolate or sweetbread fried in salted caramel. However, fans of more conservative flavors won’t be disappointed; they may choose from a variety of soups, salads and stir fry dishes. You will also find excellent meats- including some of the best steaks in Warsaw." Gauilt&Millau 2015

“Innovative, young and excellent food”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The Solec is an innovative and young restaurant with a relatively small menu changing regularly. The food I had was simply excellent, probably one of the best salads I ever had followed by delicious dumplings and fish. Most of the ingredients are from local markets, as the owner explained to us in person. The food is loosely based on Polish cuisine, but otherwise quite far from the traditional stuff you get in Warsaw's old town. There is a great variety of home made sirups to choose from, which make for a refreshing drink.
Besides eating, you can play board games (all for free) and sometimes there are concerts and other events. Prices are certainly reasonable compared to the rest of Warsaw. The Solec is maybe not the place you want to go to for a romantic dinner, but if you want to try out something off the beaten track and unique with an urban flair, I absolutely recommend this place.

Great, local food and very nice people! Menu changes everyday so you never know what you'll get, but it's always good and the taste will suprise you. A must-go place when you visit Warsaw and you want to feel "the real thing". Check it out.

“a must-go while in Warsaw!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Amazing food, local, fresh carefully-selected products. Mainly Polish cuisine, but always with a twist. Menu changes daily. The service is helpful, and - when not very crowded - you can talk with the chef easily, and he'll be happy to patiently explain you all you want to know.

It'a a very laid-back, non pretentious place, mostly for young crowd, but not only - it's perfect for a Sunday family brunch or a casual business lunch even.
They have also a great selection of board games which they update often, so - if you're into that, its a perfect spot for you.

I was there many times with various groups of friends, and we always enjoyed it.
They simply care, love their job, and do it with a true passion for cooking and hosting.

“homey yet sophisticated”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Although it is a pretty spacious place, Solec has a very homey atmosphere. Looks like a place where you can meet with friends for a drink, board games and eat something simple - pizza maybe? You couldn’t be more wrong - do not be put off by the sometimes intimidating frankness of the staff or simplicity of the decorations, or rather - lack thereof. For me Solec is a place that serves the most sophisticated cuisine in town. I work down the street and Solec, although not very cheep is one of the places I visit most often - for lunch, after hour beer and dinner with friends or an all night drinking ritual.

Prices range from 12 zloty for a soup or a simple starter to well over 100 for a steak. Look out for the some of the meals since Solec serves delicacies that you would never dare eat (ever heard of cerebellum?) in a way that will make your mouth water and beg for more.

Solec is also a good place if you are a health freak and value the quality of your food - they use only ingredients from local, small producers (that includes meat) and a lot of seasonal fruits, vegetables and fresh herbs.

The only thing that I find annoying might be the time one has to wait for a meal - but that is the price you pay for freshly prepared meals with no pre-cooked ingredients. So if you plan a dinner for more than 4-6 people - it is better to order in advance - this will spare you the irritation.

“Very nice place to eat (and to play board games)”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

We went there on recommendation and had an an extraordinary menu which we have not expected when we first saw the restaurant. (Its a little bit hidden by a kebab house)
Everything that was on the menu included a lot of fresh vegetables.
We were told that the menu changes from day to day. As the service personal told us, they try to use only seasonal ingredients from local suppliers - as far as possible.

It is possible to sit inside and outside, and there are different rooms to sit in with plenty of space.

A special thing about the place is the possibility to play board games. They offer a huge variety
of different board games that you can just take for free.

Conclusion, really good food and a nice idea to play board games.
