“Average Airport Hotel But Wonderful Staff”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

The Hotel itself is fairly average. I chose the economy room which is clean and the bed--while the mattress looks very thin---provides a comfortable night's sleep. The wifi is fast and there are even a couple TV channels in English. I believe I paid extra for the breakfast (total charge for everything was about $39USD) and there was a nice selection at the buffet.

The real treasure of this hotel, however, is the front desk people, who spoke good English and were very helpful and friendly when I checked in. Later when I needed to borrow a hair dryer..and then remembered I needed a plug for my computer ... oh yes, and scissors to cut the zip-ties on my suitcase (!!!), a different clerk listened to my requests spilling out, nodded and gathered up the things I needed, politely passing them across the counter. Now this might not seem like a big deal but I've been to many economy hotels where the front desk claims not to have what you need, just so they don't have to get up and find it! Needless to say, I appreciated the effort at the Gromada..

Room Tip: I had the windows open as it was hot (and there is no air-conditioning in the cheaper rooms--I don...

We got a very good price compared to other hotels in the area. It is really close to the airport so we thought it was convenient for us since we had an early flight.

The room was clean and had a kettle to prepare coffee. It was hard to sleep because the walls were thin and he had a group of noisy neighbors.

Service was so-so, we had ordered a taxi to go to the airport but the reception desk forgot to book it and had to wait 15 extra minutes.

Stayed at Gromada Airport in August for a short city break. The hotel location is very good, close to Chopin Airport. The place is very pleasant and staff are efficient and helpful. My room was very comfortable but the beds were a bit worn and saggy. TV had only one English news channel (Euronews) which was a bit tiresome. Bathroom was clean and nice and the towels were changed daily. Biggest problem was the room location. It was at the front of the hotel which has a huge advertising banner covering the windows making a view out impossible. The other issues were heat and noise. At the front of the hotel the rooms look onto a large traffic intersection close to the airport and it is noisy 24/7. That would be fine if you could leave the windows closed but you can't because the rooms have no air-conditioning and Warsaw is hot in August. I booked through Hotels.com and they stated the breakfast was included. The hotel said it was not and charged for it although Hotels.com have subsequently provided a credit for the amount paid. The breakfast was good even if you had to pay 20ZL (£4) for it. Lots of variety, cold meats, cereals, fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese, fresh fruits, yoghurts, bread and rolls and even pate!

Would I stay at Gromada again.... yes but if in a room away from the busy traffic.

Note: Warsaw is not really tourist friendly. It's a busy working capital city with lots of people trying to make a living. The local transport is cheap but not easy to navigate as they don't name stops which are close to major facilities.

Room Tip: Do not stay at the front of the hotel if you want a decent sleep!

Fast and good service, nice staff, quiet atmosphere. Room and bathroom are spacious and bright, well ventilated. A rich and delicious breakfast. Great selection of drinks at the bar. In the room there is drinking water, coffee and tea maker. Modern furniture in the bathroom. I really liked this hotel. Good room service. Location close to the airport is very convenient. No airport noise. In the mini-shop you can buy tickets on the bus.
Disadvantages : I usually do not like a complete carpet on the floor, because it retains odors. I can not sleep on a narrow single bed longer than a couple of days.

I stayed in t his hotel a couple of years ago and had a pleasant experience. Based on that stay, I booked for one night in July 2013 (I had an early flight). Man, was I disappointed. Turns out last time I stayed in the newer part, this time however I booked an economy room, in the older part of the hotel. Oh boy. This review is for my second stay, in the economy room.

So, the good:
1. very convenient to the airport. 5 minutes by taxi tops.
2. easy to get to by public transportation (and easy to go back downtown for a night out), just one bus, number 175, drops you off near the main train station or close to the Old City.
3. cheap. it was around $40 per night, that is a steal in any major European capital.

The bad:
1. Never been to a hotel so... dated. They probably have not been renovated since the hotel was built. Rooms rather poorly furnished.
2. Bathroom OK, but everything very basic. On the website says they provide shampoo etc. Turns out instead of individual packages they just have soap dispenser above the sink and in the shower marked "for hair/body", and "for face/hands". Except one of ours was empty (upon check in), so I opened them both to switch them, only to discover that inside it says they are both "for face/hands" soap. Seriously, can't provide simple shampoo?
3. Generally clean, except for one long black hair in the bathtub. Major pet-peeve of mine.
4. The night before I asked reception for a cab to be called, they said ok. In the morning they said they were already some taxis outside. OK. I took one, and it wasn't until I arrived at the airport that I realized that the meter was never on. So that was either an unofficial cab, or the driver was making some money on the side. Not a big deal, and not expensive really, but be aware if you are against this type of practices.

The ugly:
1. Additional fee for parking?? Ridiculous!
2. My room faced the street and what I think is a gas station on the other side of the street. A little noisy, but not a big deal, I don't care. Except AT FOUR IN THE MORNING someone was mowing the lawn on the other side of the street. 4 AM, I KID YOU NOT. I'm aware this was not technically the hotel's fault, but if you like to sleep at night you might consider spending more than just $40 and got to a hotel that would not allow something like this to happen in its proximity.

I wanted to give the hotel 3 stars (you get what you pay for), but it's going to be 2 (because of "the ugly").

We slept in new part and it was really excellent - bathroom without any lime, niece and clean room. The staff was really helpful and quick. We were allowed to stay an hour longer after the time of checking out. - for free. The only inconvenience - there were problems with WiFi and we had to use the wire Internet in the computer room.

Very poor standard accross the whole hotel. The economy and standard rooms haven't been decorated for at least 30 years! They smell of cigarets and strong detergent - you can hardly breath in it. The business rooms are a bit better but far from the business class which you can have in modern three star hotels in Warsaw. There is no business channell in the old, small TV, no air conditioning and no fridge in the room. If you want to make a coffee in the morning, you need to put the kettle on the floor next to the bed where the only plug in the room is located.

Room Tip: The economy and standard rooms haven't been decorated for decates and they smell.
