“Luxury hotel in iconic skyscraper near main station”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2011

For the first (21) and last night (27 Dec) of our Christmas holiday in Poland we stayed at the Intercontinental hotel in Warsaw. According to hotel welcome letter this was our 10th stay. They provided a bottle of red wine in our room on each of the nights.
We had room 3401 for the first night and a 2 room suite 3118 on the second. Both were furnished in smart modern style. Plenty of space and a comfortable large double bed in both. There was a long distance view from each room.
We choose this hotel for several reasons;
1. Close to Warsaw main railway station and a stopping point for bus 175 from the airport. Marriott and Novotel are similarly close.
2. Good, comfortable beds and well equipped rooms
3. Top floor swimming pool 15m long and open from 0600: superb views up there.
4. Splendid buffet with very wide choices eg 5 cold fish and about 10 breads
5. Walk in showers in the bathrooms. Much more convenient than bath tub for older guests.
6. Friendly staff
7. Good price (PLN 650 ) plus PLN 91 for breakfast.
On the last night we ate in the restaurant. Good salmon and pike/perch properly cooked. Wines are expensive but the chilean chardonnay was fine with it. Cheerful service.
We shall stay again on next visit to Warsaw.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side, facing Palace of Culture, have better views

Stayed in most of the 5 stars hotels in warsaw
The intercontitental is one of the best
Great value for the price chareged
Memrable time spent in the top floor pool and jaccuzzy + beutiful view
Rooms new clean and comfortable
One remark for the management to consider - If the noisy fire alarm sets off accidently in the middle of the night - please use ENGLISH when giving orders on the speakers - we didn't know if they were saying "evacuate immidiately" or "false alarm - go back to sleep" - some guests DO NOT SPEAK POLISH - I don't want to think what would have happened if that was a real emergancy

Last time in Warsaw I stayed at the Airport Hotel Okecie by the airport, which was OK and convenient to the airport, but away from the city. I have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Warsaw, around the corner from the Intercontinental, and didn't have a great experience there. I decided to spend a few extra bucks (thanks to my company) and stay at the Inter-Continental this time, and it was well worth it. FIrst class accomodations, great room, nice lobby, and great location. Great health club on the top floor with an amazing view of Warsaw.

My only gripes were the cost of Internet (around $25 - $30 for 24 hours, WAY too much) and the cost of breakfast ($35 or so) for the buffet. Skip the Internet if you can and go to the Starbucks just down the street for free Internet if you can, and skip the breakfast and either grab something in a coffee shop in the area or just forget about it.

The hotel wasn't cheap, but as a 5-star hotel right across the street from the Cultural Center, it's worth it if you can spring for it.
