My husband and I stayed 3 nights the Polonia Palace at the end of October/start of November. The location was absolutely fine for us because we were visiting family nearby and had only one day to explore the city - it was a good walk to some of the sights.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. My husband speaks Polish but they all spoke English so that I could understand as well. The check-in staff were friendly and welcoming and gave us all the information we needed.
The room was very spacious and had a great view of the Central station and the Palace of Culture and Science. We took a 'noisy' room over an interior 'quiet' room but we didn't notice that it was very noisy - but we were on the 5th floor. The room and bathroom were very clean and very comfortable. There was a good sized safe for our valuables, plenty of room for all of our luggage, etc. The heated floors in the bathroom are a lovely touch, as well as the daily chocolates and complimentary water/teas/coffees. There is also a mini-bar fridge, which we could also use to keep a few of our own drinks.
The breakfast was by far the most amazing hotel breakfast I've ever had. SO much selection and of really nice quality. Breads, local honey, meats, cheeses, hot food (sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms), yoghurts, dried fruits, cereals, juices, teas (with individual teapots) - just so much. AND vodka and sparkling wine. It was incredible and very tasty.
We were given a complimentary drink voucher upon arrival which we used in the bar on our first night. We ended up visiting the bar every night - it was comfortable, had a great selection of drinks (cocktails and virgin cocktails, as well) and food, as well as lovely live music and sports on TV. The staff were friendly, the food was great, the drinks were good - it's a great atmosphere.
We also decided to have the Friday night Polish buffet - it was just as wonderful as breakfast. Many different salads, cheeses, a perogi station (meat, mushrooms and cabbage, cheese and my favourite, dessert perogies - blueberry with vanilla sauce!) where you could get your perogies boiled or fried, a few different meat/fish choices for your main, a selection of breads, and a wide range of desserts. We ordered a bottle of wine which was lovely and reasonably priced as well. The service was very good for dinner as well.
Overall, it was an absolutely wonderful stay - great staff, very comfortable, great bar, great food, good location. It was great value and we would definitely return!
