“Very uncomfortable”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012 via mobile

No air conditions in most of the rooms, they had a big banner on the outside wall of the hotel, so we could not see outside. Beds were uncomfortable and as all theese were not bad enough, there was road work going on in the evening right out side of the hotel.

Stayed June 2012

Chose this hotel from tripadvisor, but in the end we had a much more comfortable stay during the earlier part of our trip at the Mamaison Residence Diana. There are no real advantages to staying in the MDM -- it didn't look anything like its photos, and was fairly dingy, noisy and not good value for money. The location was not central enough for our needs and we had to take taxis everywhere.

The hotel is located in near a wide boulevard, typical of the communist era. Our room was tiny, but clean. We had trouble with our internet, and the front desk clerk was not too helpful or friendly. The buffet breakfast is decent with hot and cold items. The location is great, within walking distances to sites and public transportation. It's an OK place if your rate is low enough.

Room Tip: Many room views are impeded by the large advertising sign.

As other reviews say, this is in a great location, and gives you a clean, decent hotel - with welcoming staff, great breakfast choices (including for vegetarians). It's a 1950s, Soviet style building, that they've converted thoughtfully, with travellers' needs in mind; but without extra 'wow' frills.

Location: loads here for all kinds of eating experiences - from pierogi restaurants to salad bars. The coffee shop (Green Coffee) is expensive (for Poland) but excellent. Dramatic busy square in front - the tramlines were being relaid, but it's also in the heart of transport networks. We walked to the Lazienki Park and Botanic Gardens from here.

Hotel: large room, clean, equipped, but not fancy. Everything worked and there was a lot of space. We were overlooking a courtyard at the back, so reasonably quiet, though dull. The front of the hotel is covered, as people have said, with a vast, sort of mesh, advert hoarding, but the view from the breakfast room gave a real sense of the city. (The square has really interesting socialist realist relief sculptures and is worth seeing.) As we'd been booked in by the university (this was a working trip), we also qualified for free wi-fi; but it would have been only 6 z (ie. about £1.20) for our three night stay.

Our only criticism would be of the duvet -- seemed to be designed for a single bed.

Breakfast: good array of fruits, saladeries, pastries, cooked options and wide choice.

Security and reception - charming. The system of locker/safe which required a concierge with a key worked well, and nobody objected to our frequent visits. They also had a friendly and efficient taxi service for the station (we paid for this, but it was reasonable).

Ambience - lots of business groups, but also tourists.

Room Tip: Probably choose the back, on a higher floor, if you want to be away from traffic.

I STAYED AT THE MDM for the last two nights and what a disaster. i travelled to warsaw for a holiday and am going home today with a sour taste in my mouth about the polish welcome. only for the irish embassy in warsaw i would be homeless, the hotel tried to evict me on the second night stay when the relized i had got a cheap rate thru EXPEDIA and they said that they wanted 300 euro for second night instead of 70 euro as the football was on and my price was a mistake , the manager was so rude i called police and after they left he got security with guns into my room and tried to force me out on the street.all of warsaw was full and no accommodation any place .i was told that the irish dont look after the polish in our country and id recieve same treatement ,please check this hotel out before yo stay

I stayed with my boyfriend at the MDM hotel on late May 2012.
First of all I must say the location is very central and perfect if you want to walk to the old town, the centre and the surrounding parcs. It is also very well connected to public transportation, there is a metro station only one block away and the bus stops in front of the hotel. Around the hotel you can find good places for eating and having drinks.
The breakfast is also very good, many options to choose from including fruits, vegetables, cereals, bread, cheese and meat aswell as beverages.
The rooms are comfortable but very outdated, you will feel like you are living in the 80's and when you look throught the window you can see the facade is quite run down, the painting falling off, a little depressing.
I didn't find the staff very friendly, as someone mentioned in a previous review, this maybe typical for Warsaw.
The fact that they have a computer with an internet connection available for use downstairs is a good plus.
There is also no shampoo in the room, only soap so make sure to bring some along. The rooms are quite hot and the temperature outside was around 22 degrees.
Overall it was a good stay and a good value for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quieter and since there isusually a huge billboard on the front of the hotel...
