This is a very good Hotel in a very good location for all amenities ,with easy walking distance to warsaw attractions and bars and restaurants.

The staff are very friendly and rooms are very spacious and clean, the breakfast was ample and filling could not fault it , will be staying here again on return trip to warsaw , a very good hotel for price you pay well worth a visit and stay.

I have never stayed in a hotel that was really this bad!

When arriving in the hotel we were given rooms which were on the 5th floor in the adjoining property. This meant that we had to cross a sort of indoor bridge linking the hotels. However, before reaching this bridge you must first wait for the slowest lift that I have ever encountered. Once you finally reach the 1st floor with the lift that took 5-10 minutes to arrive in the lobby you are greeted by heating which is turned up so high that you immediately break into a sweat, especially in winter when your wearing a jacket or jumper. Basically to reach the 5th floor of the adjoining building using 2 lifts and walking about 1KM indoors you finally reach your room.
We stayed in a "standard" or 'Business double/twin room' but this was anything but standard.
The carpets had brown stains on it under the desk and next to the beds, it seemed as if someone had spilled something in the most peculiar places...
Furthermore, one bed was extremely hard while the other had very hard, sand paper-like linen.
The TV is an old box (don't expect anything modern - I was surprised they had internet) which has very few international channels. One English, 3 German, 1 Chinese, 1 French and 1 Spanish channel - BUT don't expect to be entertained as these are all just EuroNews repeats...
The bathroom was large, the toilet was very small and very low. If a large man wants to sit on the toilet it would be very uncomfortable. The shower head would not stay fixed to the wall so you have to hold it above your head when showering.
The WIFI is not available in this building/5th story so we were using cable internet for the first day - until it stopped working on the second day. The telephone doesn't work. If your lucky you might wrestle one or two calls out of it before it stops functioning...

Unfortunately I feel that this hotel is very outdated, I don't think it would have been acceptable 50-60 years ago let alone now. I understand that this is a standard 3 star hotel so I wasn't expecting much but when a 3 star hotel cannot deliver slightly comfortable beds, clean rooms or working amenities such as internet/phone then it is quite a disgrace.

This hotel seems to have merged with another and has now become seemingly 'too much to handle' and because of the largeness of this hotel it has attracted groups. These groups are not just normal quiet school youths that are coming to see Auschwitz or Warsaw but these are groups of youth who stomp and scream and yell across the buildings, out the windows. When something doesn't suit them they start banging the walls, the floors, the doors. These are groups of Jew - youths who are from USA, Canada, France etc and seem to come to Poland as a sort of 'Pilgrimage'-like manner to respect their ancestors who died in the holocaust. But how can they respect the lives that were taken if they do not even respect that other hotel guests may want to sleep at 2:00AM rather than hear shouting from the windows and the corridors... They fill the corridors and lie outside the door in huddles talking loudly, occasionally shrieking and laughing.
I fear that these groups are pushing away normal tourists from this hotel. If the hotel management wishes to continue taking these groups then they should call themselves a hostel or backpackers lodge for youths instead of a hotel.

I went to the reception regarding the noisy groups and found about 10-15 other people already complaining. One woman had called the Polish police as she couldn't sleep and as she had to work tomorrow at the Polish Ministerium/Government she was very upset, another man was saying to cancel his stay and he was leaving tomorrow for another hotel.

So after writing about my experiences at Hotel Gromada, (merged with the former Hotel Warszawa) I am going to sum up the overall experience that we had in a few dot points.

BAD POINTS

- dirty rooms, toilet mouldy and reeks of pungent smells

- shower doesn't work as it should, also mouldy, leaking shower screens

- beds very uncomfortable - not worth ruining your spine and having a sore back for your holiday

- buffet breakfast, overly simple and un-tastefully arranged, don't expect any traditional delicious Polish food. Scrambled eggs and sliced meat is where the luxury ends

- reception staff friendly enough and willing to help but do not have power to do much and also do not have the facilities to do anything... I guess they work with what they have. Although, the portier is very friendly and helpful but doesn't speak English. He was probably my favourite staff member...

GOOD POINTS

- Good location. 1KM from main trainstation + metro, 1KM from Royal route and Warsaw Old town. 500m from Palace of Culture and Science (Warsaw's tallest building).

*TIP: when taking a taxi from trainstation to hotel it shouldn't cost more than 20-30 PLN. We and many other guests got ripped-off by taxi drivers who charge 60-100 PLN for a 1-2minute journey..

I advise people not to stay here as while you may not be in the hotel all day as you are visiting Warsaw or going about outside I feel that the hotel has had a considerable impact on our overall holiday and it dampens our mood for the entire stay if we cannot sleep at night...
Will not be going there again and do not recommend it.

This hotel was very well located just off one of the main streets in Warsaw. Close enough to walk comfortably to the new and old districts.
The hotel was well appointed, very clean spacious rooms and daily maid service. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of hot and cold items.
There is a bar and snack area in the hotel offering reasonable priced beverages. The hotel also sports a traditional restuarant. We didnt use the hotel restaurant as there was so much choice in the centre.
Warsaw itself, is a city of two contrasts. The old centre offers historical and cultural landmarks. The new town is full of modern buildings, shops, cafes and bars. Although, a busy capital city, the centre was very clean, people were helpful and polite and general standards very good.

The hotel is located between Centra tube station and old town. The major sights and night spots are within walking distance. My room was facing the garden and very quiet.
The breakfast was good. I would definetly stay here again.

Pluses:
-nice location
-nice service
-clean rooms
-friendly personnel
-good breakfast
-free wi-fi(but only if you stay in old building)

Minuses:
-the entrance to the new building which has a lot of rooms and which you are supposed to stay in is a bit long and even complicated especially when you try to find it for the first time
-no wi-fi in the new building - the Internet is available only through LAN-cable which actually connects to a socket not so good and you need to adjust it from time to time when you suddenly lose connection

This hotel is excellent. If you take the 175 bus from Chopin Airport to Nowy Swiat, getting off at Ordynacka stop. Its on the wall of the bus inside and counts the stops down.It only costs 4.40 ZLN, roughly £1. Journey is exactly half an hour. Then cut through Varecka Street opposite the bus stop and walk for 5 minutes till you arrive at the hotel on the left.
The hotel is beautiful inside. Staff at reception are very helpful. Rooms are tastefully done, and we had a room facing Palace of Culture building which looked magnificent. The hotel itself is centrally located and you can easily reach the railway station within 10 minutes walk.Breakfast is great with food plentiful. We went to the big mall behind the station, which has everything you want. The food hall is outstanding serving most foods from KFC to Greek. If you turn left out of the hotel, down the steps, then left again, past the casino. Cross the small road then cross over to the right. You will see Sphinx Bar & Grill. Just before that, you will see a small asian restaurant called Spring Roll. Food is wonderful, and very very reasonable in price. 2 Course meal, bowl of rice, with a pint of lager and a coke costs just over £11.50....with the tip! Excellent food. we also found a small bar/cafe/restaurant in Chmielna Street opp Spring Roll about 50 yds up called Cevac I think just on the right. superb food. We also found Secret Garden which is number 24-26 Novy Swiat, cutting through the small alley you will see these unusual bars but are fabulous to go into. Go into Klapps round the other side. Boobs on the wall and vibrators for beer pumps. Very good bar and staff. Not seedy at all. We also visited Palace of Culture building and Museum of Technology, which were also fab. Hard Rock Cafe by the mall is well worth a visit. Marcin the manager is a great host. Ale a bit pricey but well worth a look just for the memorabillia.

I do not know which part of the hotel we were in new or old, the room was 3rd floor straight up in the lift from reception. It wasnot the cheapest smallest room, just one grade up (size of room)
The room was great, nicely decorated , great bathroom , everything we needed (except a kettle -but we are british and like our cuppa). The matresses are old but clean and the rooms were serviced every day (not something you get everywhere)
Reception was good , spoke good english and very helpful, quick check ins and outs.
Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, cereal, bacon/eggs/sausage cold meats and veg etc as well as fruit juice tea and coffee. Personally I don't like streaky bacon and would have preferred more croissants etc but this is eastern europe and not France or Spain. It was very good.

Only warning is do not jaywalk, use the crossings/underpasses and wait at the lights.

We had one issue on the last night when our room lock broke, but the security got in and gave us another room without question. All very pleasant.
