We were at this hotel 5 years ago and decided to go back as we were very satisfied then. Well, it probably was not the right decision. At reception staff are not half as friendly as they used to be. We were promised a room on the highest floor and got one on the 1st. We did not want that and finally got one in the end. What was "superior " in the room, we still don't know. Last time we had a normal standard room and there was, apart from the higher price, no difference whatsoever. On the contrary! The aircon made such a lot of noise that you could not understand each other; and worse: it even did not work and did bring no coolness at all.The window could not be left open as the noise from the street was overwhelming. So sleep quality was zero as the room was far too hot. We stayed 4 nights and only once the bathroom and toilet were decently cleaned. It is not enough to replace the toiletries; it's more important to dust and clean properly.
In the breakfast room the welcoming lady barely could afford a little smile. There are not enough coffee machines and juice dispensers. We like a warm breakfast, but it was not edable as the eggs were ( every day) stone cold and so were the sausages. We asked then for a freshly made omelette and were pointed to one that had stood there for god knows how long. After insisting on a warm one, we got one. Same story on Easter day. O.k., it was busy but that was to be expected. On days like that they should have extra staff on and certainly more then one frying pan for omelettes. The cook was extremely nervous, and frankly rude, to the guests who did not want to wait 20' for their eggs! That is appalling! The breakfast is very expensive and one would expect at least a decent service.
All in all, a disappointing stay. Next time we'll go somewhere else.
