This is a lovely hotel that is conveniently located for the centre of “new” Warsaw (about 5 minutes walk away), including the central train and metro stations and one of the main tram junctions.

It’s a little less conveniently located for the historic old town, where the majority of sights are, but they are only a short tram ride away.

Internally the rooms were modern and of a very high quality. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped.

I had a snack in the bar on the one evening I was there and the service and quality of the food was excellent.

Positives:
Comfort
Staff

Negatives:
Location (if you are visiting the Old Town)

This is a very modern hotel and although travelling with a group, check-in was very efficient. The room was comfortable and met our needs. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming and the concierge gladly made reservations at the restaurant of our choice and supplied directions.

The lobby bar was nice and the bartenders were friendly and accommodating. They even made us vodka and tonics with limes at our request! Breakfast had plenty of choices and healthy options were available also.

The location was very convenient to restaurants and shops and there was a large mall across the street.

I chose the hotel based on the very good or excellent reviews. Sorry, this one will be below par.

Granted, the hotel itself keeps the Mercure standard, no doubt about it. However:

There is a casino, supposedly not being part of the hotel, located in the north wing on the first floor, which is currently (May 29-June 1) being renovated. It involves some heavy machinery, pneumatic hammers and drilling in concrete. I was not informed about that by the staff during the check-in, and duly got a room on the second floor, directly above the works. You can imagine the not so nice surprise I got when I tried to sleep off the jet lag after a transatlantic flight!

Once I complained about the noise on the next day, I was offered a room in another wing. Good. However, the hotel was far from fully booked (the offer of another room confirmed it), so I don't consider putting me in a room directly over the cursed casino as a friendly act.

Room Tip: Anywhere but in the north wing, and high enough not to hear the construction noise.

I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Mercure Warszawa Grand Hotel and, if anything, the hotel has gotten better. I've stayed here a couple of times in the past few years and always had a good stay but this time around, it was even better. The staff is wonderful and couldn't be more helpful and courteous. Without a doubt, I would recommend this hotel. The central location is most definitely a plus. You're within easy walking distance from everything. The Old Town is a 15 minute walk, as is Lazienki Park. The train station is a 10 minute walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor. There's a Casino on the ground floor (separate from the hotel...

I spent there more than 10 months!
Every week from Monday thru Friday!
Perfect breakfast!
Staff is very kind and helpful. Comfortable beds, quiet rooms, big and well-equipped bathrooms.
Very good food in the hotel and also excellent restaurants just near the hotel. Especially two Sushi-bars (each 50 meters away; one left, the other one right of the hotel)
Within a 5-minute-walk you reach the very center of Warsaw.

Came on business, and was given a relaxing stay. Rooms had everything I needed to work - desk, wifi and ethernet etc, and the wardrobe space was good. Bathrooms were large and clean, well fitted out. The glass screen between the bed and the shower is something I have never seen before, a good touch. Quiet rooms, warm and an effort to get up in the morning! Breakfasts were excellent, a huge choice of hot and cold foods, and strong coffee to get me up. The conference room was well organised, fantastic views over Warsaw from the top floor, and refreshments were good quality.
