It is the most known Warsaw building, maybe even in Poland. It's Soviet but it has a lot of charm. Located in city center close to main Railway Station.

I don't know why the people of Warsaw hate this building but we found it very interesting and we missed our bus to the Moldin airport as many coaches and buses leave from outside this building so we had nearly 2 hours to explore the building and get inside away from the cold. Many different things to explore if we had more time and they even gave us hot mulled wine a a polish type of hotdog upon entering the building for only 5 zloty... Well worth a visit when in Warsaw.

If you like viewing your cities from the air but can't afford a drone, Warsaw has the answer - the 30th floor of the palace of culture! Plenty of space to walk around and see the city form all angles - wrap up warm in winter as the wind is biting though! Its not particularly well signposted and a bit confusing when you are inside as most soviet monoliths are but the entrance is on the right hand side of the building (the opposite side to the tourist info office). Once inside, head to the back and through one of the arches - the ticket desk is in between these so you need to kind of walk forwards then look back once you are through. They will then point you where to get the lift - its an attended one so there's not much room which I imagine would lead to queues in peak periods. Once at the top, renovations are taking place but there is a small cafe and gift shop - the coffee and cake are nice and reasonably priced given the captive market up there. There are also some tables to sit out on if you can brave the wind!

The viewing platform is not right at the top of the building but, at 30 floors up, it is high enough for good views of Warsaw. We went up after dark on a Sunday and there wasn't much of a queue for the lifts. But remember that if there is a queue going up, there will be one coming down too! It may be possible to 'skip the line' if you have a Warsaw Card (and want to make yourself unpopular). There's a good view of the lights at night, so long as the cloud base is high enough, and the building is open until 20:00 - Mondays too, unlike many Warsaw museums.
The rest of the Palace is worth some exploration - it is a soviet-style monolith with iron curtain-style manning levels: commissars, lift operators, security guards etc. The levels of labelling are a bit sparse though - we tried finding the Tourist Information Office, which is on the opposite side to the main door, and its not well sign-posted at street level (It does have its name in big letters at a height of 15 metres or so above the pavement). It's also possible to find Iron curtain car hire around here - Polski Fiat 125s and 126s.
