On about 3 floors (including the one like a basement) are the interior of this castle which I would describe as a "palace-museum combo": palace-like rooms which are mostly on the top floor (with great paintings, gold-framed mirrors, a few "grand ceilings" & actually not one but about three "throne rooms"); rooms in like a museum-setting which are those on the two lower floors (with quite a number of miscellaneous items mostly those on "smaller scales" and many in glass-display cases, ranging from paintings & sculptures to gold & silver wares to some weaponry items; and also a small room like an "excavated area" with some glass floors and a few things to see underneath.

Located in the Old Town (which is right about at the area of the "city center"), the square in front of this castle is also a nice hangout place where right around it are: a beautiful cluster of colorful heritage buildings (also a nice-length row of those buildings on the left side of the street right before entering the square), a remnant of likely an old city wall, and also a "small tower" to go up (not much in height so which I skipped figuring not quite far to the distance to see from above).

The official residence of Polish monarchs. Rebuilt many times. Be sure to go inside, it is richly decorated. The ticket can be paid by card. You look around yourself with the audio guide on your ears. Available cloakroom, cafe, souvenir shop. The Royal Castle overlooks Castle Square. The large castle is a fairly non-descript building from the outside. It was completely destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in the 1970s and 1980s. Now a museum.

This is one of my favourite castles that I’ve visited in quite a while. Once you get used to the one way system and get through the beginning with the large cloakroom then the tour with the audio guide becomes very enjoyable.

Each room has lots of interesting history with incredible pictures and portraits on the wall. You could easily spend a couple hours exploring
