This place should be visited to become a little bit intelligent. The atmosphere is miraculous inside this castle.

This is right in the hear of old town and deserves a visit. People talk about Versailles castle but I liked this one better. It has some unique stuff and it is very tasteful and not over the top. A great way to fill in a couple of hours.

The castel was official residence of the Polish kings. Sometimes was robbed by the invadors. During the partitions of Poland in 19th century majority of the collections were taken to Russia. Some things returned to Poland after the WW1. The castle was in flames in September 1939. Polish people were trying to salvage the most precious art collections. During the occupation many things were dismantled and taken away to Germany. In October 1939 Hitler issued the order to blow up the castle. It was blasted by German sappers in September 1944 during the Warsaw Uprising. Reconstructed very precisely, some original things returned to its interiors. Nice apartments, beautiful sculpurtes, Canaletto, Lanckoronski collections with two Rembrand's paintings. Constitution of 3 May 1791, the first one in Europe. Audioguide recomended. The castle as a part of Old Town is on the UNESCO list as 'an outstanding example of a near-total reconstruction of a span of history covering the 13th to the 20th century'.

The castle did not look like it was very big from the outside, so we did not think there would actually be very much to see, but once inside it was an incredible surprise! Completely reconstructed after the war, it was just stunning. The audio guide was invaluable in helping us to learn about its history and the efforts to save items such as its artwork. Wherever possible, fragments of the original castle were included in the reconstruction. It was a very poignant and inspiring tribute to the resilience of the Polish people and how much effort they have put in to rebuilding Warsaw.

We visit the Royal Castle in Warsaw on 19 December 2019 after we missed out two years ago on the opportunity. It is a beautiful place with many treasures and priceless paintings. We enjoyed the morning and was really impressed and surprised with the professional manner the staff treated us after reading negative reviews about them on TripAdvisor.
