Owner description: Surrounded by beautiful seventeenth- and eighteenth-century merchants' houses, this lively square is filled with street vendors, cafes, shops, galleries and some of Warsaw's top restaurants.

It is a very pretty area surrounded with lovely pastel buildings, a huge monument to Sigismund III Vasa (who moved the capital of Poland from Krakow to Warsaw in 1596) and a massive 13th-century Royal Castle. We didn’t go inside the Royal Castle but it looked amazing from the outside.

The little mermaid just have to be careful! the Warsaw mermaid is way more impressive and looks dangerous :)
the statue and the square were just being renewed ... and they did a good job! the square is friendly, clean and the colors on the facades are amazing!
If you get there for Xmas, check if the market is on the square or spread over the city like in 2013

This place is definitely worth taking a walk around but it just can't hold up against the Old town markets of other cities.

pretty pastel houses surround the square and have been rebuilt to exacting standards after Hitler's army destroyed them. the cobbled streets make this a very quaint area to visit . a few amber shops and stalls selling artwork also an ice rink in the wintertime.

Visited the ice rink. Free if you have your own skates, or 7zl to hire some skates for an hour, very cheap. Downside that there is no where to keep personal belongings but a friend found the culture centre was very useful and offered to put our stuff in their cloakroom. Fantastic surroundings to ice skate in, beautiful buildings with lovely patterned details. Great atmosphere.
