Owner description: Located in Old Town, this picturesque open plaza was built in 1821 and features the King Zygmunt III column in its center.

It took long time to rebuild the Royal Castle on this square. Again the Germans at the end of the WW II leveled this gem. They also destroyed the column in front which is now a land mark of this city. The view of the ramparts, of the castle , the Krakowskie Przedmiescie street and the bridge across the river is unique

Commercial, and of course a reconstruction..but great atmosphere.
Well worth visiting the old town. And also well worth to visit the royal palace there.

I was in Warsaw in December, there were Christmas decorations everywhere.

You should really go to this place, it is really close to the old city and the castle, so you can enjoy both. Oh, and there is also the beginning of the Royal Route, another thing to do in Warsaw, meaning the Castle Square is where you must go first, and decide what you will do after.

Great for a mooch and a sit to take in the sun or people watch. Entertainers are aplenty and do get an ice-cream.

There's a large public restroom here too which is handy (right on the corner).

Lovely square when the sun shines... Make sure you visit the reconstruction exhibition in the basement of the reconstructed palace itself to see just how much damage had to be overcome to produce the vista that presents today
