Being mad football fans, we were always going to go to a Legia game when we were in Warsaw. We arrived on the Friday with their game against Slask Wroclaw the next day but didn't have any time to get tickets so would need to go down on the day of the game.

We went down to the stadium for 11am to see if we could get any tickets for the game. With Legia being a big club we thought this may prove difficult but it was simple. We bought tickets for the most expensive seats in the stadium (£25) and I can definitely say we got our money's worth.

I have been to many games in my life that have had amazing atmospheres (Champions League nights, Turkish games) however, I must say that this is the best atmosphere I have came across. From the first second to the last we heard song after song from the Legia ultras. We also thought that we may get some trouble due to us being foreigners but everybody was kind towards us.

Would say to any football fan that this is a must do activity if there is a game on during your trip.

Most modern stadium in Poland. Home stadium of Legia Warszawa, current champion, best team in Poland. It has all facilities of a modern stadium, is the safest in Poland, has souvenir shops and cool pub. If you want to go for a game get yourself a fan card (on match days prepare for long waiting for it).

This is not the Polish Armed Forces Stadium, so that should be corrected. It is the Municipal Stadium of the City of Warsaw and is the home field for historic Polish side Legia Warszawa. Legia used to be known, and is still cheered as CWKS Legia ( Central Military Sports Club Legion Warsaw ). However, the military ties are long gone.

The stadium is not exceptionally fancy, but it does have good sight lines, very modern safety and sanitation facilities and is in the heart of the city - only a few minutes jog from the larger National Stadium. There is a club store and a sports bar on the Łaziekowska Street side and you can walk up the hill and be at the Parliament building in a few minutes as well.

It is quite safe, we take our kids to matches there regularly. Compared to the stadium it replaced, it is like a flying in a Dreamliner after starting in a open cockpit bi-plane. Warsaw is also a good place to catch a match in the Polish league where the play is very physical and sometimes not bad as well. Legia is a top club and the matches are well attended.

Took our delegates around this place for a tour and reception. Probably the most commercially successful stadium in Poland and although not used for euro2012 it is built to international standards. The home of (in)famous Legia Warsaw FC the stadium seats around 35,000 and has boxes, suites and a huge tv studio. Fan shop is good.

It's not premier league but as a statement of polands football heritage it is impressive.

Thanks for the tour marek!
