If you are a tall interested in the 2nd World War and the Holocaust you should visit here as you can go inside the actual prison where the Poles were put into before they were either executed or sent to concentration camps. What they went through!!
It is quite small but had enough information in and hardly cost anything. I bought a DVD which has witnesses accounts of what it was like in there and that is amazing and only cost £3. It's over 2 hours long. I recommend you buying that if you go there.

For anyone at all interested in the wartime history of Warsaw -- and who visiting Warsaw is not? -- the Pawiak Prison is an absolute must-see destination. My wife and I visited the sparkling new Musuem of the History of Polish Jews, and found it cold, lifeless, and off-puttingly high tech. (In fairness, the exhibits were not yet all completely installed.) The Museum of the Warsaw Uprising is similarly hi-tech.
This place is decidedly not. And it is far better and more rewarding for it. It is located in the actual Pawiak Prison where the Nazi Gestapo kept Polish political prisoners and anyone suspected of opposing the German occupation. You can see the actual cells where prisoners were crammed, beaten, tortured, and murdered. More than 100,000 people were filtered through here. Very few came out alive. Either they were sent to concentration camps and murdered there, or they were executed on these premises. The exhibits, which are substantive and full of information, were incredibly moving. The cumulative impact of this experience was overwhelming for me, and I found myself moved to weeping and yet numb with the absolute horror of pure evil.

Reading the stories of particular prisoners in an actual SS prison was chilling. Dairy, upon hopeful dairy are display. German propaganda. See The Death room were a prisoner was placed before being put to death. See an actual prisoner uniforms tattered and stained with blood. Other objects range from sweet little music boxes to the harshest steel whips to be used on prisoners.

We were expecting a prison, but it is just a museum in the middle of commercial buildings. It is a little out of the way, but I believe you walk thought the Jewish Ghetto when walking from Old town. Admission for this and the Gestapo museum is one and that same and was about $4. It is a small exhibit, so a nice change from most other museums. the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you just have time to go to one or the other, the Gestapo museum would be my choice, but seeing and learning a little about this one helped tie the two together.
