The detail, the exhibits, photos and film clips really immerse you in this important piece of Poland's history. It is a tough visit- something to endure rather than enjoy. The attention to detail is extremely thorough and information is also in English. As a result of their uprising Hitler ordered the city of Warsaw to be destroyed.
In an amazing display of resilience, the Old Town was rebuilt immediately after the war ended.
This museum let's you look into the Polish soul and is well worth a visit.

Lovely city, especially the old part. Great for a long weekend. A lot of really good restaurants. Cheap taxi. Close to the airport, about 30 minutes with taxi.

An amazing museum which gives a real-life feel of what happened and seems to immerse you in the streets of Warsaw in the 1940s. There is no sentimentality about this, it is just the events intercut with a sample of the people who experienced these events for real. The hopes, the fears, the desire for freedom, and the ultimate despair of defeat are all there. It is not as harrowing as you might expect but there is a sense of the nobility and possible futility of their struggle and the utter evil of their oppressors.

I don't think I can go again after the second time. It's a shattering experience if one really tunes in. The darkness, the sounds, the flight over the destroyed city, the cruel history of it - one cannot leave unaffected.

Amazing museum! Floor after floor was full of photos, artefacts, and turn a corner and you're in an old Warsaw street during the uprising. The audio guide was brilliant and there were a large number of printed information leaflets you could take away with you. There were also several areas with comfortable cinema-style seating where you could watch real film footage and interviews plus a 3D aerial film over the ruined city. We went on a Sunday, when the entry was free - just a coincidence - so we were a little concerned and how busy it seemed from outside but once inside it was very calm, quiet and spacious and didn't feel crowded at all. I cannot think of any better way to learn about what Warsaw and its people went through during the war. A definite 'must-see'.
