“A great place for a Sunday brunch with friends”
Review of Cafe Mozaika

Cafe Mozaika
Ranked #505 of 3,557 Restaurants in Warsaw
Price range: $3 - $17
Description: Since the very beginning (1961) Mozaika Café was a local phenomenom, the symbol of upper Mokotow and the main place for artists, jurnalists and politicians. This is the favoriute place for Krzystof Kieslowski- the great director well known around the world, who in late 70ties and 80ties was a long-hour guest at Mozaika. Andrzej Wajda or Jerzy Hoffmann were also often drinking schnapps there between the cuts and scenes of their movies. Mozaika attracted people with its incredible atmosphere and the delicious polish couisine. Two years ago Mozaika was rebuilt and redecorated. New owner took care of all the details, that makes every stay comfortable and intimate. In menu there are not only polish couisine offer but also the owner created a menu based on balcan cuisine, to combine the elements of tradition and culture with a pinch of contemprorary ideas.

It seems that this cafe had been reborn under the new ownership/management. I remember it as being rather dull (but that was ages ago). These days it is a hot place for creative people to gather for tea or brunch and enjoy great food along with good company. The only thing I’d change is vegan friendly coffee (soy or almond milk please).

This place was very popular as it is how during the communistic times Poland went through . Outside you still see the kind of worn out neon sign .. but inside all fresh modern casual take an sir reflected in the guests as well . When we arrived we had reserved ( recommendation) and sat among an eclectic mix of people . They had a big party of elderly fest from a funeral, a young hip looking writer on a Mac in the corner .. the older lady who seems to be a Relic of the past .. all
Enjoying a large variety of dishes , cakes and drinks
Our food order came out inconsistent but I believe the large funeral party took up all the time . We ordered mezze with a variety of small dishes to taste .. and surprisingly very good. Little pizza breads , mushroom soups, fresh salmon and salads made us all want to taste each other’s dishes
We came during daytime and it was packed so be ready to wait or reserve accordingly.. it’s defiantly worth especially from a. Peoples watching perspective . And what we had as food was pretty good .

We enjoyed excellent pierogi, cabbage rolls, fried chicken livers, and tagliatelle. Dinner for four with wine and a couple of shared desserts came to 217 PLN (about US $60). Very reasonably priced delicious dishes!
