I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, as I came to Torun for a conference. The hotel is relatively small, boutique like. The corridor leading to my room is quite dark. In my time here, the lights have only been turned on once in the corridor. The room size is ample, and the bathroom is well laid out. The water pressure has been a highlight.

A few things that will assist with your decision to stay here:
1. There are not enough power points to charge electronic equipment. The room only has 1.
2. A small fridge is provided in the room, but it doesn't work.
3. There is no Wifi Internet in the rooms. Wifi only goes as far as reception.
4. There is Internet access, but you need to have a laptop that allows the Ethernet cable to be plugged into the laptop. Internet was inconsistent, and at times did not work.
5. Breakfast has been consistent and filling and included in the cost of accommodation.
6. Room seems to have mozzies and flies buzzing around. Yes, I have been bitten!
7. There is a washing service of clothes, but it is priced per piece.
8. Staff at reception want to assist, but can't, due to communication barriers. They will assist as far as they can understand you.
9. The hotel does not have a business center, so printing out train tickets is problematic. I found reception were prepared to let me email a document so that they could print it out.
10. Hard to get a bucket of ice. Some staff were generous and others no so..,

The hotel was beautifully decorated, and the rooms were modern.

Room Tip: Bring a power board to charge devices, as the room only provides 1 PowerPoint.

Completing this review with my friend Norman. We recently stayed with a group of colleagues on a business trip. The hotel is well located and has a nice atmosphere with the exception of the bar area where the seating is modern but not conducive to sitting down with friends for a "night cap". The rooms are modern, comfortable and a great size. The bathroom / shower room was very spacious and the hotel provided complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was satisfactory but it would have been better if they served better quality bacon and you were able to order omelettes. The staff on the whole were very accommodating. One or two of them could do with smiling now and again. The bar was not always attended - even for coffee. This was frustrating. I would stay again if I return to Torun in the future.

Was here on business and the hotel worked well for this. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff on the whole were great. The only issue is that there is no bar to sit and relax either individually or in groups. If you want to socialise late into the evening this seems to be frowned upon.

The food was good on the evening we ate in hotel however it was a little lacking in ambiance.

Very clean and fresh.

I was coming to this hotel as my favourite one in Torun (the 1231) was fully booked.
This hotel is well located (just nearby the old city centre of Torun) and my room (511) has a very fine view over the Vistula river.
The hotel is located in an old Prussian building which has been totally refurbished.
The hotel designer apparently thought (sometimes strangely) about the general design, not about the hotel residents. For instance, to understand how to switch on the lights in your room, you probably will need more than 15-30 minutes (the hotel website should add at least one page about this topic, as the 'how to do' long explanation available in the room is not sufficient). The restaurant capacity is reduced equally. For the breakfast, you have to crawl through the tables to find an empty one. The lift command with a card is sometimes not working correctly.
The bathroom is quite fine. The room is not small, but was unpleasantly smelling and due to air-con it was impossible to open the window. The breakfast is just average by Polish standards. Impossible to obtain tea or coffee or chocolate at your table - you have to bring it (where is the milk? where is the sugar?) with the permanent risk when crawling through the tables.
Important: no Wifi in the rooms (only at the 1st floor), meaning that you can only connect to internet using a cable, which does not works for your mobile phone or tablet.
Finally, compared with 1231, this Bulwar hotel can appear only as a second choice.

Room Tip: The room 511 is quite fine, as long as the unpleasant smelling is removed.

Quite disappointing hotel, in spite of its great location, just few hundred yards from old city square and just on Vistula river bank. New building, with few older stones nicely fit it, looks unfortunately as if designed by somebody who had never designed, nor for that matter, stayed at any decent hotel, which is pity as clearly a lot of money has been invested here.

Ultra modern rooms, with a lot of high tech (well, if you need to have an instruction sheet to operate lights it rather indicates to me that the system is badly designed) and too much furniture but only one (ONE !) free electricity socket (two if you connect your charger to shaving socket in bathroom...) and no wifi in the room ! To be fair, there is a good and free wifi network in the main lobby but there is also a noisy bar, so not the best place to pick up your emails.

Bathrooms are fine but towels seem to be both old (?) and ultra small and toiletries are provided in size XXS!

All-in, well below expectations...

The hotel is adjacent to the old town, located in the former caserne; rooms are nicely decorated in a modern style; great Wisla river view from the restaurant; opulent breakfast and some ginger bread as a welcome gift (Torun’s tradition).
There is also a SPA with a nice and professional staff and unrivaled prices.

Lack of free WIFI in rooms is the only negative thing.

I was positively surprised by the hotel, which is a mixture of old and new, modern and classic. The check in was fast, staff courteous. Rooms a bit small ( after all this are old military barracks), but modern, and you have a free pack of the local Copernicus gingerbread! The view through the small window is nice, on the bridge. A drawback is that the curtains do not block external light (from the bridge and streets lights) so you have to sleep in a non obscure room, which is a bit disturbing.
It is very well located , a pleasant 5 minutes from the nearby center which has very nice scenery.
Breakfast was excellent, above expectations.
I will stay again!

Room Tip: Make sure your room curtains block light.
