We found our new friend Tomasz on Trip Advisor and started communicating and planning our tour a few months before we arrived in Poland. He helped organize our trip from start to finish and was available on line or on the phone to answer any questions we had regarding lodging, tours, and transportation. As this trip was largely focused on searching for information about my ancestors, Tomasz did extensive research before we arrived. He identified locations where birth certificates and other important documents were likely to be found. Tomasz then set up meetings with church and government records offices so that we could meet with them when we arrived. He provided transportation, driving us around Poland (1600 km or ~1000 miles!) to each of the cities where my ancestors were born and raised. In each of the cities that we visited - Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan (and many small villages) Tomasz also took us on walking tours of important sites and provided in-depth information on the history of the area.

Having a local guide who knows the language, customs and history of the area made for a much smoother and richer experience. We would have never been able to communicate with the church staff or government workers without the assistance of Tomasz. His persistence and charming personality ensured that we were able to access as much information as was available. Tomasz even had one church volunteer searching archival documents that dated back the 18th century!

Tomasz provided this service at an affordable price, especially considering the complexity of the work needed to locate ancestors living a century ago! He did it all with a great sense of humor and treated us like friends instead of clients. The only drawback to this tour was that my husband and I visited more bakeries and ate more baked goods in one week then we would have typically done in one year. ;) In all honesty, we loved the paczkis, Pope's cake, and Polish pastries that Tomasz encouraged us to try! We are having terrible withdrawals and wish we were back in Poland because we can't wait until Fat Tuesday! Also, all the restaurants we tried in Poland were wonderful, the food (and beer and wine) was delicious and extremely affordable! All the hotels we stayed at were 5 star and very comfortable.

If you would like to take a tour to learn about where your ancestors lived, or just to see the beautiful country of Poland and learn about its history, we would unequivocally encourage you to contact Tomasz and his company Poznan Tours. It will be a trip of a lifetime! We hope to do the same again very soon. Thank you Tomasz!

Dear Lee and Frank!
Thank you very much for your warm words and all the praise! We spend really good time in Poland visiting many places - like Krakow, Poznan and Warsaw - while chasing your ancestors all over the country :)

It was great to see your emotions and how the history comes alive one again as we discovering new things together.

I'm more than happy knowing that you liked it and a lot of fun while doing this tour.
Yes, you have tasted many dishes, drinks, sweets on the way :) and I'm hoping that thanks to such approach your polish roots were seen in better way for you- as you were learning by doing and you have seen our traditions and everyday habits.

It would be great to see you again!

Warm greetings from Poznan, Poland
Tomasz

We spend amazing and wonderful time in Poznan - sightseeing, tasting local dishes (and beers) and simply having fun! Tomasz showed us different and little known side of the city, was more than happy to hear our stories related to Poznan and gave us strong feeling that Poznan is a great place to visit! Previously we thought that you’ll see the Old Square and the Cathedral and Poznan is done. Wow, how wrong we were…. Thank you! Now it’s completely different story to walk around streets of Poznan :)

Hi Waldemar!
It was simply great to show you Poznan in a bit different and more alluring perspective. I'm more than happy knowing that your family liked our tour. It was very good for me as well to exchange opinions about various places in Poznan - great that you know few places in Poznan.

Hoping to see you soon - maybe visiting the forts together :)

Warm greetings,
Tomasz

I would have never thought that anyone could talk about my city with so much enthusiasm and such in-depth knowledge of its history. All that was presented in a light and amusing way. Tomasz was even able to illustrate the specifics of Poznan dialect to foreigners! Don't be afraid that the walk will be boring and packed with details that you will instantly forget.

We came for a day trip to Poznan in May 2016. Prior to arriving, I had emailed with Tomasz to set up an itinerary, and he was extremely helpful. He assisted with train schedules, dining recommendations and of course as a tour guide.

We had described our interests (history, art, etc) and Tomasz planned an excellent tour of the city, making sure we got to see all the key sites, such as the cathedral, the old town, the town hall with the fighting goats etc. What made the tour even better was the insight and background Tomasz provided, I learned a lot about the culture of Poznan and Poland during the tour.

I highly recommend a tour with Tomasz if you are ever in Poznan

It was amazing time arranged by Tomasz in Poznan. I highly appreciate his hospitality and historical knowledge. The best thing is we are like a friend even first time meeting each other. His proposed tour is very flexible which meets whatever you wish. Highly recommended. Hope to see one day. Tien / Vietnam.
