I would certainly recommend a stay at this hostel! we had traveled to Lodz from Warsaw by train.
It may be a little tricky to get public transport from the train station, but having said that, it was raining heavily on the day we traveled, so may have seemed easier in sunshine, we opted for a taxi in the end which was 20 zlotys
A nice hostel, basic, but clean..looks like it is currently being renovated, the second floor was being painted, with a strong smell of paint!
The room we had was spacious and clean and had a wardrobe and table and chairs..the bathroom was not far away ..( there was some electrical fault in the corridor with the lights and they flashed on and off if you switched them on ,but i am sure this will get rectified in time )
We were on the 3rd floor, which was actually 6 large flights of stairs, so would be difficult if you had a large suitcase or heavy luggage, but the young man on reception took my case all the way up for me! ( and fetched it back down on the day of our departure!)
The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful!..they spoke good English and showed us any where we wanted to go!
There is not so much to see in Lodz ( but there again it was always going to seem quiet after Warsaw)..but its a pretty little place with a few cafes and shops ( a nice place called Manufactura if you like shopping) if you just wanted somewhere to stay for a night, the airport is handy to get back to and only takes about 20 minutes from the hostel by taxi( about 25 zlotys )
The hostel kitchen was nice and the breakfast was a selection of cold meats, cheese, cucumber, tomatoes, bread and jam ,cereals, coffee and tea, with the facility to be able to make your own food if you wished
there was a nice little sofa area where you could sit and read or watch tv if you wished..
the only down side was that they had not yet got the computer working..so you could not send or check e mails if you hadn't got internet on your phone, though the receptionist did offer to lend me her lap top if I needed! ( how kind!)..i'm sure this will be up and running in time!
All in all a lovely place!
