“Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Soo huge! Incredible to think that the whole jewish population of Lodz dissapeared, but seeing this cemetery you understand how big and rich the jewish community was.
Some tombstones are mausoleum! We made a tour with a guide and it was worthwhile.

“Lodz Jewish Cemetery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

Fascinating!
Don't miss Poznanski"s mausoleum (you really can't!) - outrageously showy, ostentatious and over-the-top. Opposite the empty pits by the wall (dug by the wall by Jewish victims during the Holocaust - they escaped their fate during an air-raid and at least one of them is alive in Lodz today and preserves the site) is the common grave of several Bnei Akiva religious Zionist youth counselors who were murdered shortly after the war on their way to Kracow to try to rally the remnants of Polish Jewry and encourage their emigration to the Land of Israel. The original Beit Tahara and Beit Hespedim (room for washing bodies and funeral hall) are still intact and quite impressive as well.

“Jewish Cementery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2011

The cemetery is absolutely worth it to see it. I was in the winter time there and it was shocking to see the tumbs cover by snow, and deep in the woods. Watchout it is very hard to find the enterance. But on the south side the wall is demolished so you can go to the cementery from there.
