We stayed at the Folk Hostel in the Apartment just for one night in April, 2013. The apartment is a little separate from the main hostel, so we only saw the hostel on checking in and out, but what we saw was clean and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful and knew some English - some more than others, as is to be expected.
The apartment is one very big room, with an ensuite bathroom. There is a kitchenette, a dining table with four chairs, a sofa (which may have been a sofabed) and two single beds. There is not a lot of storage furniture, but there is a lot of space. The apartment also has a small balcony, although we were unable to use it because there was deep snow. We were very comfortable in the room, and would like to have stayed longer. The bathroom is fairly small, but not cramped, and the beds were very comfortable.
As for location, the hostel is about a five minute walk from the old town, where there are interesting bars, cafes and restaurants, and in the newer part of town by the hostel there are bigger shops, banks, restaurants, etc.
The only negative point is the 'drain' smell as you go up the stairs to the apartment, which on one occasion was also noticed in our bathroom, but we never smelt it in the main room.
You need to be aware that although the address of the hostel is the main road - ul. Krakowskie Przedmiescie - the entrance is round the back on Zielona street, number 20. You go through a courtyard, to the end, where the hostel is clearly marked, and go up some stairs. The apartment is nearer the road, and there are stairs to get to it.
We really liked it, and if we return to Lublin, we will stay at the Folk Hostel in the apartment.
