Stayed here as a couple and enjoyed it immensely, the place has a sense of style and represents fairly good value for money. The breakfast is good but on the three occasions I have used the restaurant staff let the place down by being slow to respond to requests and coming across as unfriendly. The room was spacious and had a nice bathroom with all the basic facilities. It is in a good position being situated in the centre of the city of Lublin. The hotel is not high end but worth a visit.

This was my second time in this hotel; both times for a conference. It is a well run hotel with friendly staff. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the arrangements for the conference were professional. The hotel is very well located, just a short walk to the old city and other interesting things in Lublin, as well as to restaurants, and it was only a few minutes by taxi to the train station. I'd certainly recommend this hotel for business or pelasure.

We spent some time recently in the Grand Hotel, our first time. This place is well-managed, with friendly and helpful staff. Located a short walk from the Old Town area, very clean and quite, with fine bedrooms with high ceilngs.

The Grand offers a very good breakfast to start you off on a tour around this historic and fascinating eastern Polish city.

Stayed overnight on business. The hotel staff are friendly, entrance spacious and grand, my room was large and bar+breakfast good. I'd recomment this hotel for both business and pleasure due to location to the centre. Went out in the evening, plenty of restuarents and bars close by.

Room Tip: Not sure if it had airconditioning. Suggest you clarify.

For the start of our whirlwind 6 day visit to Poland, we flew into Warsaw Modlin airport on Wizzair, picked up our pre-booked hired car (booked through Alamo - the most competitive in price) and spent our first night in Warsaw, This review on the Grand Hotel Lublinianka covers our fourth and fifth nights, in Lublin. (See separate reviews for the two other hotels we stayed in; Hotel Polonia Palace, (Warsaw) for our first night and the Wentzl (Krakow) for our second and third nights.

The drive from Krakow to Lublin was 165 miles and took five hours. Some of the route was along single lanes and be prepared for the driving; cars almost on top of you trying to force you to drive fast - all a bit scarey.

We had paid £25 extra for sat nav which we certainly needed in all three cities.

The hotel is on a main road in the old town but at one end which was very quiet. A truly imposing façade and smart marbled entrance up to the reception area. We managed to find a public parking bay outside the hotel for which there is no charge after 6pm on a Friday. Otherwise the hotel has 5 designated bays for which a charge is made.

Check in was efficient, we had booked a superior room (through hotel.com and paid a rate of £100 for the room/night) and requested a quiet one. We had to compromise with a view to the rear of the hotel as there was to be a large wedding party the next evening and the man on reception told us that rooms with the better views overlooking the main street were likely to be noisy.

Our room was very large, with a high ceiling, two comfortable chairs & a table, flat screen TV, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities but no safe which would have been useful. For a hotel of this rating we were surprised not to find one. The room was however hot (a comment made by others) and it was not possible to reduce the temperature as it is controlled centrally, set to 25c.We were staying there 31 August & 1 September so goodness knows how unbearable this would have been in mid-Summer.

The curtains and bed covers all looked new if not slightly drab. The bathroom was lovely, again very spacious and well designed. Everything was spotless.

The hotel was in a very good location to explore the old town. If you turn right out of the hotel, walk through a pedestrianised area with lots of bars and restaurants you will come to the entrance to the old city walls and old town which is full of character and very pretty. There is plenty of choice of places to eat and drink and watch the world go by.

Out of the old town, the cathedral is a must; truly stunning. The castle is also worth a visit.

Turning left out of the hotel a few shops down is a chocolate shop which sells the traditional polish chocolates which are divine - individual chocolates each filled with a plum.

Breakfast was alright, nothing spectacular and nothing like the standard and choice we had experienced in the other two hotels. The hot choices were not being kept hot at all by the burners and the croissants and pastries were tasteless as were the juices.

The drive from Lublin to Warsaw Modlin airport was about 3 hours. We would definitely recommend Lublin as a city to visit together with Krakow and Warsaw and the hotel but only for its history and location.

Room Tip: Book a superior room and request one on a higher floor.

We arrived as a group of 15 people - we asked for a bellman to help with our luggage and they told us they would charge per piece of luggage! Additionally, we arrived at a very hot time in Poland and the air conditioning at the hotel was set to 77F (24-26 C). It was unbearably hot in the rooms and the reception people were very rude. They told us that the hotel had central air and all the rooms were set to the same temperature - when I asked why we had a thermostat in the room I was told - "well you can try that". We could not even open the windows as one window had no screen and the other had holes in the screen
