Dreadful decor, a dark, dingy and depressing hotel. Staff were grumpy at best and downright rude at times. Aviod this place. There are better hotels in Wroclaw!

The Dwor Polski is a hotel that reminds you of what things used to be like in the days when Poland lay behind the Iron Curtain under Soviet control. It is the hotel that good taste forgot. Having stayed in Warsaw and Krakow previous to arriving in Wroclaw we had enjoyed excellent hospitality and quality accomodation at the Bristol and Ester respectively. Arriving at the Dwor Polski we were met by a surly receptionist who neither greeted us or smiled simply, indicating our room. Having booked a double we found ourselves in a tiny twin room. We immediately informed the wretch on reception who threw a set of keys to us barking "try this one". Again a twin. With the rest of Wroclaw booked up we decided to say put and endure our visit as the town looked attractive enough. But, now the hotel...dark, dingy and depressing best describe the ambience. Hideous furnishings ugly light fittings and truly vile carpets add to the overall mire we felt engulfed in. The staff are miserable and unhelpful. Substitute milk was served with coffee at breakfast. There were no mattresses on tiny single beds just sofa cushions. Our room had a transistor radio(!!) no doubt permanently tuned to 1950s Radio Moscow. This place needs to be dragged into the modern world or converted into a set for horror movies. Never again. Pictures have been uploaded to illustrate my point. Awful.

Great old hotel furnished with old but comfortable and warm furniture. Completely modern bathroom. 100 metres from the main square and many excellent restaurants serving huge portions of great local food at knockdown (to western European) prices. Free wi-fi in the room. Low prices. Nice people. What more do you want?

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in November 06 after booking direct with the hotel on their own website. We had a lovely stay here. The location is perfect, right in the centre of town with one of the entrances going onto the main square. The room had everything you need except a kettle. The decor was traditional polish. Big heavy wooden furniture but the bathroom was right up to date, in fact we think it was recently refurbished. Rooms cleaned every day. There was a continental buffet breakfast in the small breakfast room served 7 till 11, which is great if you had a late night the night before. There is a lovely little cobbled alley which the main entrance is on which has a bar and a wonderful tea/coffe shop in it, which we think is owned by the hotel. Both great and popular. The staff are very polite as with most of the polish people but seemed quite reserved unless you made conversation with them first. Wroclaw is a wonderful city. The buildings are lovely, very historic, and there are so many restaurants we were spoit for choice, ane we are both veggie! Menus are in polish but as soon as the staff realise you are British they produce a english version. The service in all restaurants we visited was brill, put uk to shame any day. Best restuarants was Siesta. Best hot chocolate was cafe france on one of the main streets. Brilliant bar under town hall in main square, brews its on beer. Cant really say anything bad about the place. Definitely worth a visit, lots of eating drinking and walking. Wonderful.
