Boogie hostel, Wroclaw: a review

This hostel is on the third floor of a building that is 400m from the central historical square plus has a pub downstairs.

The reception seemed to be 24h, but not 100% on that. Receptionists were exceptionally helpful, especially with translations. Rooms were locked and each bed had its own locker, plus no deposit was required.

Facilities were good, loads of space given over to a separate kitchen and lounge area and a separate reception as well. Loads of sofas, and tv channels on the big tv in the lounge. One computer and free wifi through most of the hostel (it didn't seem to reach my room....). Free breakfast as well, cereal and bread with jams or honey.

Dorm rooms were OK, few minor issues, such as the noise level, a window wouldn't close and the room overlooked the main road, this meant we heard everything going on very loudly throughout the night. Also the beds creaked a lot! Any movement was loud, and the beds were metal bunks.

Cleanliness was mixed, the toilets were clean but the floors needed a scrub. I saw 4 toilets and a minimum of 3 showers. Kitchen was clean, some cutlery and plates not so much.

Hostel caters for families in their private rooms as well, so atmosphere is less party orientated than most places. Lots of people seem to stop off fora night or two. Not a massive amount to see in the town itself.

Major downsides here are the creaky beds and loud dorms. Though that's not too bad for the price and may not be true for all rooms. 4/5.

I can't comment on the hostel part of this place, it might be great, but I stayed in a private room, at 250zly a night. Turns out the room is right above a karaoke bar, which itself is next to (in the same building) another bar. I've been in bands myself so I'm not adverse to nouse or loudish music but this was absulutely ridiculously loud until 3am on a weeknight.
I spoke to reception around midnight to see if there was a room a floor up or at their other location and was met with a shrug and 'nothing I can do'. The next morning I was told the same thing, and despite the guy at reception saying that 'it is always the same problem, this happens all the time' refusing a refund for the next night that we'd booked in. In the end we demanded to speak to the manager and get a refund but had to then find somewhere else to stay.

Considering the amount of hassle my drunken antics caused this place (including police, muggers and checking out late...) They were incredible! Great staff, clean and they had cheap beer downstairs! all for £9 a night... PERFECT!

We (8 friends) stayed in this hostel for 2 nights. It's located right outside the center. We had 2, 4 person rooms with single beds. Shared badroom/toilet are quit ok. There is a lot of street noise during the night/early morning (earplugs work).

Can't rate the breakfast because we didn't use it.

booked it as it was cheap and found it to be ideally located near to old town (student-type district) which was very quaint and had beautiful architecture. Pub in the basement came in handy for a chilled out evening with dimmed lights and stripped-bare brick walls and soft euopean music. Staff were friendly and although you have to share amenities (toilet/shower) there were more than enough to go round and clean. We stayed back in March and didnt write a review until now due to writing another review for somewhere I didnt enjoy recently in Turkey but in comparison to this - the room should have been free in Turkey! I would recommend it as a cheap alternative - after all, you get what you pay for

Having stayed at a lovely hotel in Krakow and a fabulous hotel in Warsaw, this hostel was a terrible disappointment. Location is good, but it ends there.

Hostel is located on the top 2 floors of a building with seedy massage parlors and a bar downstairs. Staff is uninterested and acts like you're more of a nuisance than a welcome guest. Could hardly sleep because members of another group spent all night playing music. Asking the staff to quiet them down didn't help. If all rooms but one are taken up by a group, I think it would be best to not rent out that one other room, the group spoiled it for us.
On top of that, our room wasn't even cleaned when we got there. "The cleaning lady must've forgotten your room" was a lame excuse - bed was nicely folded and the curtains were in some sort of knot, so she was there but just didn't clean.

At another this might just be a nice stay, the hostel has potential with a good location and quite nice decoration, but the staff was just horrible.
