“Wonderful Wedding”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

We held our wedding here last week and it was without doubt the best decision we made.

The Palace is beautiful. With a classical exterior, the interior has been modernised intelligently, without losing the traditional feel. Most guests stayed in various quarters around the palace grounds, and all were impressed with the condition of the rooms and general spaciousness. There could have been coffee making facilities, irons in the room (instead of borrowing from reception) and a full length mirror, but these are simply minor observations. In any case I'm led to believe coffee making facilities in rooms is not a common practice in Poland. We stayed within the actual palace and our apartment was incredibly beautiful, with lovely views and a very regal feel.

The wedding itself was very well organised - firstly by Marta and then by Patrycja (who took over due to Maternity leave). We are based in England, yet communication was never an issue as both had first class command of the English language. Initially when we went to taste the food (a few months beforehand) the restaurant mixed up the menu (managed to be resolved on the day), and the wine tasting was fairly limited to a glass each. However, this did not stop us being able to choose a wonderful menu for the wedding with perfectly good wines to accompany the meal. The wild boar in wild mushroom sauce was incredible. Usually people forget wedding food quite quickly, yet many English guests are still commenting on the standard of cuisine served here. The late night buffet was also good but the highlight was without doubt the flaming pork leg which was served around 11pm - cooked to perfection and without doubt one of the best pork dishes man has ever sampled.

One minor qualm during the wedding party, was that staff kept closing the door to the hall and wouldnt open the windows due to potential complaints of noise by other guests. This was the height of summer, so it was inevitable there would be a large spill of guests sitting outside or spending more time outside to cool down. You would have thought the hotel should have acknowledged this factor and ensured any other guests were either based as far away from the hall as possible, or at least briefed that there would be a wedding here.

An initial worry of mine was that they often hold two weddings here simultaneously. Although there wasn't another wedding here at the same time as ours, there was apparently a large party (with fireworks) held in an opposite hall. Nobody even noticed, which was brilliant really. Marta did tell me that such an occurrence shouldnt be a problem, and as it turned out she was completely right.

A further concern of mine was that the bar areas seemed quite small to cater for a large-ish group from England. However, there was no need to ever worry about this, as both the palace bar, reception bar and the bar on the other side of the fountain were all perfectly adequate in size for this group (most definitely helped by the balmy weather). A good suggestion that was made to us was to have a BBQ for the guests arriving on the Friday as 50+ could prove problematic for the restaurant. We went for this option and it did indeed work well, with a good and plentiful meal.

I didn't personally make use of the pool and spa facilities, but those who did were very impressed. The pool is much larger than a standard hotel pool and even has a strongish current to swim against. The jacuzzi is also of a large size.

Overall, the Palace is stunning, like something out of a fairy tale. Beautiful, incredibly large grounds with a river running the length of the area. The Palace is also a great point to visit neighbouring attractions such as Jelenia Gora, Karpacz, or the other incredibly scenic areas found all around this particular part of Poland. It is also an absolutely brilliant place to hold a wedding. Its a weekend we will remember for the rest of our lives (as also will our guests) and I honestly could not think of anywhere else we would have held our wedding reception.

Thanks to everyone for being so helpful and accommodating. I will always recommend Palac Wojanow for a wedding, or simply to spend a few days in if you happen to be in this beautiful part of the world. We will most certainly return.

Room Tip: Hopefully the staff would advise if you were staying above a hall where there is a wedding reception...

We stayed in the steward house due to our party of 4. The beds were adequate, quietness was adequate. Mosquitos - horrific at night. Keep your windows closed! There is no AC, no fans. The pool was excellent - lots of fun for the kids. The breakfast was a hit for one of the children. All left the meal filled until late afternoon! Advise staying in the palace proper - MUCH better experience however, no room for 4 people in 1 room.

Room Tip: Stay in the palace; not the carriage house or auxillary buildings. Much better experience! We stayed...

we stayed as a group at this palace for 3 nights to celebrate a birthday party.. the place is very ostentatious with all the luxuries. we stayed on the first floor in the main palace which was very roomy with lovely decor, bed very comfortable and views overlooking the fountains at the front. a few of the party stayed on the 4 th floor which was very similar. only down part is there is no lift so it can be tough for people to climb all the stairs to these rooms. bar area at the rear of the palace had lovely views over the grounds, most of the staff were very accommodating and food was excellent and reasonably priced. bar staff worth a mention had to be Justyna and Paula. they worked very hard to make our stay very enjoyable.. well done to both girls. the leisure facilities were very clean and enjoyable. the free hire of bicycles was a bonus which enables us to bike it around the area and beautiful grounds. the birthday party organised for the party was excellent and food was excellent. the birthday lady stayed in one of the apartments adjoining the palace which was very large and very comfortable, only down side was the bedroom area was a mezzanine style which was accessed by stairs which was a bit of a problem considering this lady was elderly. other than that we could not fault this place and I would def recommend it as a place to visit. one criticism of the restaurant would be that service can be very slow at times with the delivery of food with reference esp to the senior management who were not very accepting of this problem. otherwise our stay was very enjoyable and well worth the visit...

Room Tip: if in the main residence pick one of the lower floors as there are no lifts available and there is a...

Jelenia Gora is a ugly city I must say, but the palaces, mountains and surroundings are just great for a weekend trip. You can see a lot, and really relax watching the Sniezka, a specially from the Wojanow Palace terrace, eating a delicious chocolate fondant and flushing it with a glass of white wine. After that you can dip your toes in small pool but it's really enough. Next doors is a place for German tourists with delicious Polish food, and Golonka in the size of human head ;)

Room Tip: Get the rooms in the building with the pool so you can walk trough the corridor directly to the pool...

The positives: 1) Meals were terrific, 2) Pool was warm and clean, 3) Grounds were nice. 4) Most of the staff, especially the wait staff in the dining room, were very polite and helpful.

The negatives: A) The pool man/life guard was overzealous. He reprimanded my son for sitting on the edge of the pool and sliding in....he considered that a dive. B) The same pool man reprimanded me for walking on the grass......which was full of weeds and not some manicured, roped off show-lawn. C) The paths are crushed rock which gets carried into the rooms, cars and makes a mess. D) NO COUCHES OR PADDED CHAIRS in the bedrooms?????

Room Tip: Don't expect to do anything more than sleep and wash in your room.....unless you upgrade to the...

I have always dreamt of living in a castle somewhere in Europe on beautiful grounds with service that would be courteous, congenial and happy to do what they are doing. For one week, I had just that. Upon arrival, we were invited to dinner and when I said invited I mean exactly that, we did not pay for the dinner and they did not scrimp on the portions. We had pork chops, unfortunately they had run out of duck, which we had the next night but not for free, The apartment suite was furnished in rare antiques, no IKEA stock hotel furniture here. And when they say apartment suites they mean apartments, roomy luxury suites. The hotel staff is polite and try their best; though the English is not always up to standard, but they make up for any lack there by going out of their way to help you. If you enjoyed canoeing on a lazy river, hiking in untouched nature, dry saunas, steam rooms, working out all this at a reasonable price, then this is the place for you.

I stayed there for short time but I do have a full respect to those people who invest money and time to bring this gorgeous place and palace back to live.
It is a bit in the middle of nowhere but if You want to stay there, relax and refill your batteries in this charm, calm, elegant and stylish place... That is the perfect place... I wish to be more old palaces like that...
