well how lucky i was that in this pretty but dreary town there was such a restaurant with such nice service....i ate there both nights....the veal wasnt quite up to snuff but thats true in most italian restaurants.....but the pasta, soups and house wines were excellent....and for the price!....did not try the pizza....there was a very nice fair haired, skinned waiter that made my visits there very comfortable

Just across the road from the dreary Gromada hotel is the La Costa restaurant. Friendly cosy little place, with a good atmosphere. It's always busy, so the locals obviously know it's the place to go. The Italian food is varied, interesting and of good quality. The staff are friendly and Oskar, who is now the new owner is very accomodating. If you end up in Przemysl for some reason, I highly recommend it. Just up the way in the main square the is a bar called Pub Podcenia, which Oskars staff sometimes frequent. It has a very convivial atmosphere and does not get too rowdy. The owner Gosia, is a charming hostess, as is her barmaid Basia. Good selection of wines spirits and cocktails.

I admit this review is biased, I'm a big fan of the kind of food served in La Costa, light italian pizza, and pastas. This restaurant was the first one to serve it in Przemysl. It has had better and worse times, but for some time now keeps a good standard. Service is great and you will not be dissapointed by the food. I wish they changed the menu though, like they used too, eating the same for the 20th time takes some fun out of dining there. Anyway, unless youre into the thick crust cheese heavy american pizza, this place will do the trick.

Just across from the Gromada hotel is Italian (no Italians) restaurant La Costa (http://www.lacostaprzemysl.pl/) . Most restaurants in Przemysl (and in Poland in general) suffer in varying degrees from: a lack of clients, an absence of ambiance and a misunderstanding of the concept of 'service with a smile'. La Costa was an oasis. We never saw the place empty, it looks cozy, it has a varied Italian menu (in English as well) and very good food, prices are reasonable and the service is very correct and friendly (especially Oscar)
We stayed across the street in the Gromada hotel for 37 days and 30 of those days we probably had dinner at La Costa. The restaurant is open from midday until 10 PM and closed on Mondays. On Mondays you can walk up the street towards the old part of town and have dinner at Paprycka on the right, the wine jazz bar that shares its kitchen with Pub Fort XXII next door. At La Costa we never had a bad meal but highlights were the pasta with Gorgonzola and pears, the meat Lasagna, the Pennette al salmone and the pasta with nut sauce. The house wine (both red and white) is very drinkable and a Krupnik Sour is a nice cocktail to start off with.
If you stay at the Gromada, get out, cross the street and have a nice meal in nice surroundings. You will not be sorry.
