“Seafood meets Krakow”

Albertina Restaurant & Wine
Ranked #21 of 1,961 Restaurants in Krakow
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: $5 - $103
Description: Outstanding fine dining restaurant in Kraków with food & wine pairing menu. Albertina Restaurant & Wine is an exceptional spot on the culinary map of Krakow. Located in the very heart of the city, the restaurant lures with unparalleled interior character, carefully arranged menu, and excellent selection of wines from Poland and all over the world. The restaurant is an absolutely unique culinary concept in Krakow, born from passion for wine and the art of cooking. In particular, however, it emerged from the desire to promote food & wine pairing in Krakow. Here, the original dishes by chef Grzegorz Fic present both the beauty and riches of the Polish cuisine, and the versatility of southern Europe cooking traditions. Following the rule that excellent cuisine may come into being only with excellent ingredients, the unchangeable basis for every menu consists of carefully selected, seasonal, and local products, as well as always available fresh seafood from the own lobster tank.

Located at the corner of Dominikanska Street and Poselska, this place was a wonderful discovery especially since our original destination was a ... Carrefour Express.
The staff is really friendly and welcoming and the setting far exceeds the way the entrance looks like.
The seating in the main hall turned out to be a good choice and the waiter was extremely professional from the get-go.
After going through the menu, we decided to go for fresh lobster dishes, despite the Canadian option being the only available option (it was not the season for Scottish lobster). The risotto offered an amazing blend of flavours and the the linguini was, in short, perfectly cooked.
Top top it all, the white wine was the ideal pairing, despite being somewhat overpriced.

Had a table reserved for lunch. Meet the staff a day before and was welcomed to see the wine cellar. The day after I came in for lunch. Had a complimentary dish from the kitchen to start with. A pork tenderloin served with a carpaccio of beetrot and a jelly of honey topped with vineger. It was a beautiful dish dish with well balanced flavours. The next dish was a tartar of deer. It may have been one of the best tartars I've ever had. The main of duck was a well composed dish that may have been presented in a more elegant way but the flavours were perfect. The sweetness in the cranberry sauce was to die for. Next Up was another complimentary serving of a macaron filled with a refreshing cherry cream.

Finaly. The dish that brought me to this reataurant. The birch tree mousse. The dish was like a painting and the sweetness of the birch sap got a central role on the plate. A well composed dish with a lot of creativity and finess. The only thing I could have wished for was a bit more acidity in the dessert to balance the sweetness of the other components.

Service. I was served buy a young woman I would employ if I had the chance. A smile to die for and perfect timing in all the servings. I Love people who take pride in the work. I would definetly come back to this reataurant.

Best Regards Mathias

Truly wonderful - the food is outstanding - modern style but perfect sized proportions, imaginative combinations of flavours and beautiful presentation. Excellent wines to go with each course, served by the glass if wanted and some attentive, informative and friendly staff to help guide you. Worth every penny.

Went to celebrate our anniversary. Most dishes unavailable or not recommended by waiter - my partner wanted lobster but I didn't. Was pressurised by staff into lobster as only available in big sizes to share. For a fish restaurant - the lobster was overcooked and tough and even though I ate mine, my partner didn't. With a restaurant of this supposed caliber - the waiter should have enquired why the plate was still full and was there anything wrong with the food? All a bit poncy and pricey and definitely not up to scratch
