I agree with others here on TA that you are really paying for location. The rooms are clean and the building very interesting with the history. The girls that work the reception are awesome very attentive, but they seem to do everything which at times is impossible even though they are really trying. In one of our rooms (we had two) the water was not working upon arrival, the maintanence man came soon after and fixed it and we were given a package of cookies for the trouble. It was a nice gesture. My room was at the front of the building so it was very loud every night due to the night club across the way. That was not an issue in our other room as it was an interiour room. The rooms were clean and basic, which suited us fine, but there were no smoke detectors which is a real hazard in a building of this age made of wood. Also the keys were crazy, four keys to get into your room and sometimes they did not really want to work. Again, a hazard if you needed to get out quickly because you have to use these keys coming and going. The location was awesome and I would highly recommend a little place on the square for drinks. They have outdoor seating on the north side of the square. It is called Kurant. It is really an art gallery that sells music and books too, but they have a little bar. The waitress was the sweetest person in Krakow (blond curly hair). Get the grasvodka with apple juice!

Room Tip: Do not get a room in the front.

The Tango Hotel is a gem hidden behind the walls of old Town of Krakow. The room we had was large with modern amenities but the passage leading to the room was steeped in history. Fresco paintings on the curving staircase revealed some of the former glory of the 15th century building. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, even offering to make us a snack to take on our way to the airport, as we would miss breakfast on our last day. Ideal location close to the Market Square. Walking distance to excellent cafes and restaurants.

Room Tip: courtyard facing rooms may be quitter than the street facing rooms.

Recently stayed at Tango House and was thoroughly delighted with the experience. The rooms are much more spacious than you might expect when you first enter the courtyard to the guesthouse. Immaculate and simply decorated rooms, very up-to-date bathrooms and a charming, but small, breakfast room for guests. As much as I enjoyed walking the centre of Krakow, just around the corner, it was a welcome to see our front door after a long day. In a word, Tango House is superb.

Room Tip: All rooms require taking steps but worth the trek.

We have debated long and hard how to review this hotel... This was one of the rare times that we were disappointed in following TA suggestions. In reading a lot of the reviews prior to arriving at the Tango House, we decided that a lot of the critiques that some focused upon seemed trivial. Yes, the entryway is not very appealing (still not an issue with us), but in short, we felt that we paid quite a bit of money for this hotel for what we got.
THE GOOD:
First off, let us be clear that the ladies who staff this hotel are incredibly friendly and helpful. Each one of them was always polite, smiling and gave us generally good advice when we asked for it. I think that there is a link missing between the ownerof this property being on hand to see how the state of some of the rooms really affect a travellers' stay-- it is not the fault of the staff. The girls do the best with what is available to them. (I.E. some times you will need to ring or call to get the working staff member as they are also the housekeeper! Reception is not open on a consistent basis everyday.)
And, also, the location is absolutely fantastic. No complaints at all with that! You are paying for location and not for your room, however.
The bathroom was really great in the room-- very clean and a great-sized counter to lay out toiletries. There was also a nice closet that gave us space to put our clothes in since there was no way to lay out suitcases with two of us in the room. The room was clean (but housekeeping never came the same time twice).
THE BAD:
When we arrived around noon, we were so pleased to be able to check in at that time. However, we were shown to room 5. We'd requested a quiet room (after reading reviews on here that the hotel sits close to nightclubs). Room 5 is billed as a double room, but this is one of the cruxes of our unhappiness. The double room has NO way for the second person to get into the other side of the bed without climbing over the other person in the bed. There is no access to the other side of the bed since it is directly next to the wall. Room 5 is not meant for two people, period. We felt that this was utterly ridiculous. Having been all around the world and lived in Europe, we don't complain about small rooms as some Americans do, but climbing over a person to get in and out of bed for 6 nights was too much. Charge less for this room, Tango House. We felt "bilked" for the cost of the room... and the room wasn't really all that quiet even though it was an interior room. ( No soundproofing whatsoever in the interior!)
Moreover, the draperies were non functioning. We went to pull the drapes while getting ready the first afternoon and they fell off the wall! And, there is a room caddy-cornered to 5 from which we could see the bed of the other room from-- I didn't want to put on a show and we wanted darkness to sleep. The staff rehung them, but they came down again. This was another ridiculous and trivial money-saving gaffe on the hotel's part.
Our first morning at the hotel, there was no working hot water. The problem was remedied and it took about an hour for the water to heat again. It took a bit of time from when my husband alerted the front desk to a staff member coming to talk to us about it...which thankfully, we left ourselves plenty of time to get ready as we had a tour pick up time set!
The keys are the old-school skeleton keys to the room, but the doors are missing the backstop to the key hole (since you have to lock yourself in from the interior), so it takes a while to find the "sweet spot" in the door to open and close every time. And, it gets old using 3 (or 4 if the main gate is closed after 10 p.m.) keys EVERY time you leave your room. This was another thing we read on here that we thought wasn't a big deal, but it got old quickly.
The breakfast selection was nice. But the room doubles as reception and a breakfast room and it wasn't meant to be this way. It was entirely too cramped to be comfortable. Maybe if it was warmer, we would have opted to eat in the courtyard.
IN SHORT:
Clean and a can't-be-beat location...but the owner is charging top dollar for a sub-par property. We would not stay here again. In fact, since we've been through quite a few Eastern European countries, we'd suggest renting a city flat/apartment that are just as central and do your own breakfast catering.

Room Tip: If you're travelling in a couple, do NOT stay in room 5

The location is perfect - just around the corner to the main square. Parking is in a lot up the street (you have to pay during the day, from 20:00 - 10:00 in the morning it's free). The room was spacious, very clean, nice bathroom; keep in mind it is a walk-up. The breakfast is delicious and the ladies that manage it are the most friendly in all of Poland. Since I had to leave early before breakfast, she prepared a lovely spread for me to take on the road!

This B&B was truly super.. Staff was outstanding...Location couldn't have been better. We enjoyed the proximity to everything. Krakow is extremely walker friendly... Our breakfast was delicious..and the staff was extremely helpful and willing to aid us in directions, planning excursions..etc.. My best recommendation would be that we would definitely stay here again. And the price was extremely affordable..

The staff were very welcoming on arrival. We had complimentary drinks and biscuits. Wifi was good. Located right next to the main square, good access to restaurants, shopping mall, train station etc.

Only small comment was the tv didn't work very well, but to be honest it didn't really matter as we were out and about most of the time.
