Tango House Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 130 Krakow B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Excellent location, clean, spacious rooms, and friendly and accommodating staff. Krakow is a beautiful, walkable city and Tango House is in a perfect location to see it all. We arrived very early in the morning via an overnight train and left very late via another overnight train and they stored our bags so we could explore the city before and after we checked out.

We stayed at the Tango house for three nights.

The good
- VERY central location! The market square is litterally just around the corner
- very good price for this location
- extremely charming hostel (dont't be distracted by the a bit shabby entrance hallway)
- you can listen to tango everywhere, even in your room :)
- very good breakfast for a hostel in a tiny café
- quiet location (you can't hear the street, but the other guests --> see next point)

The bad:
- clairaudient rooms: we slept like babies during the first two nights when the hostel was nearly empty. However, we were kept up all night by a group of other guests who continued partying all night. But this is nothing the hotel can do about, and you have to be prepared for this kind of situation when staying at a hoStel (notice the "s"!). But I guess the situation is often like this in the suommer months.

Choose this hostel if...
... you want a place to sleep at a VERY central location in a VERY charming hotel and you are not easily disturbed by other guests.

We stayed at the Tango House from the 12th-16th April for a long weekend. The room was large and clean with everything you could need for your stay with a lovely view of the square. The staff are extremley friendly and helpfull. They helped organise any trips we wanted to do and our taxi back to the airport. We had to leave very early Tuesday morning so they made us a packed lunch to take with us as we would miss breakfast. The bed & breakfast itself is in a brilliant location just around the corner from the main square in the old town. I would highly recomend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone thinking of going to Krakow :)

Booked a standard double room for single-use, which was roomy for one, but probably small for 2 people with a normal amount of luggage. Friendly staff, VERY central, very clean, modern well-heated bathroom with a great shower (plenty of hot water), small but decent cold breakfast buffet (muesli, fruit, bread, cold meats, cheeses, tomato/cucumber/red pepper, jams, cake, tea, coffee...). Room has a tv and hot water kettle for tea and coffee. An extra heater was provided for the sub-zero temperatures at night. (Needed despite central-heating!) Steep staircase up to the rooms. Automatic room deodorizer in the stair-well triggered by movement was rather unusual.

We stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for a long weekend break and felt very welcomed. The hostess offered us a drink while the necessary paperwork was signed etc, and answered our questions extremely well and made some very relevant suggestions.

We knew it was a good location however we didn’t realise how good this was...it’s literally 30 seconds from the main square and its surroundings where all the restaurants are. Yes there is a nightclub in front of the hotel but they have installed special glass and it can barely be heard, not enough to disturb sleep.

We were initially given room 5 however I am 6ft3 and the bed and room were much too small. Perhaps this room may be more suitable for a single traveller or a one night stay as a couple, but not for the four we stayed for. At breakfast (which I must say is brilliant) the next day we asked the hostess to move rooms and it was not a problem, she was extremely good about it and the service was second to none. The second room much much better for our needs.

With respect to the stairs leading to the bedrooms, they’re not that bad. It’s an old bath house but they’re perfectly safe. If you have mobility issues you may wish to look elsewhere as there is no lift (as there’d be nowhere to install one). They may have ground floor rooms but I didn’t see any?

There are a series of doors that you need to unlock in order to get to your room therefore security isn’t an issue and hotel CCTV is prevalent. There is a free safe in the room too. The bathroom was spotless and modern.

All in all an excellent little hotel that obviously prides itself on its reputation and I can see why its achieved such an excellent rating on Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: If you're tall, ask for another room but No5

We stayed at Tango House between 11th-15th March 2013. After a delayed flight, we were offered a very warm welcome and a cuppa from the staff at the reception. The room itself was large, clean, newly decorated with a comfy bed, a modern bathroom with underfloor heating, and a view of the square. A plus was to come back to the room after being out in the snow, to a warm cosy room. The reception staff organised our trips to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines, and were extremely helpful on answering our many questions about the area, and recommending various bars and restaurants. The hotel is just a stones throw from the Main market square, where you can find shops, bars, restaurants, coffee shops etc. They offer a continental breakfast from 8am which includes cereal, toast, bread rolls, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, honey, jam, and various biscuits, tea, coffee and juice. A good way to start your day.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Tango House bed and breakfast, and would certainly recommend a stay there if you want a warm, Polish welcome!!!

This was our second visit to Krakow and we stayed in Tango house again, partly because our first stay was so lovely but also because of it having one of the best locations to get to the old square. About a 30 second walk to be in the square.

We arrived early because of an early flight and dropped our luggage off which they looked after until we could check in.

The room was very nice. We were in number 5 which is a small double room. There is enough space for 2 people but its not a large room. Still it has a wardrobe, a little area to store you luggage out of the way, tea and coffee and kettle and a TV.

The bathroom is a good size and spotlessly clean with a very modern look to it. There is old exposed brickwork which works really well with the modern look of the bathroom.

All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was lovely as always. The normal sort of European breakfasts, cold meats, cheese, bread, toast jams etc.

On the day we checked out they again looked after our luggage so we could have the day free without having to lug it about everywhere.
