“Totally OK”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

During our recent trip to Cracow, we had once dinner in Amarone.
The restaurant was easy to find. Very near to the main square.
We started our dinner with beef carpaccio and marinated salmon. It went together with really fresh bread and a special butter.
As a main course we both had veal cheek with tuna risotto and capers. After main course there was just space for a little ice cream as dessert. It was a pity as the cakes looked very nice too.
The waitress was nice and the price relationship was totally OK.

“Amarone or Pod Roza Restaurant?”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

We booked our hotel (the Copernicus) through Relais & Chateaux and the offer included one a la carte dinner at the Pod Roza Restaurant in the Pod Roza hotel. On the evening we arrived in Krakow, we headed to the hotel PR where we had a table reserved. The main atrium-dining area was deserted and we were shown to a small area around the back where there was another table of guests. As we weren't keen to be the only guests having dinner in an otherwise empty atrium, we chose to sit in the area at the back. Service, menu choice, presentation and taste were all good. My husband tried rabbit and said it was delicious. Our first wine choice was not available but the wine waiter was very helpful in finding us an alternative. I would not normally have chosen to dine in this restaurant had it not been for the offer, but we had a good meal. It would have been nicer to have sat in the main atrium with lots of other tables occupied - but it was a Monday night after all so maybe the situation is different at weekends.

It was only after we had dined and we had to sign the bill, that we noted that it showed "Amarone". So not sure if Pod Roza restaurant has been renamed, whether it has always been called that, or whether the front part was PR and the back part was Amarone. I'll probably never know - but we enjoyed our meal whatever!!

“Fantastic food, sad waitress”
Reviewed August 26, 2011

My Husband and I went to Amarone to "treat ourselved" with something special one Monday evening. We live in Krakow (walking distance from the Old Town) and go out very often. This was our first time in Amarone after several months, but memories were vivid and expectations were high. The menu looked fantastic, so, to further prepare our taste buds, we decided to oreder aperitives. Some 10 minutes later we made our food selection and odered a lovely chardonnay (from Tuscany) to accompany our food. Although, in a posh place like this it seemed unnecessary, we asked our waitress to bring us aperivies BEFORE the food and then food with well chilled chardonnay. To our bitter surprise, we waited for aperitives so long, they arrived just 2 minutes before our starters (which were lovely warm, grilled octopus), so we grimmed when we saw octopus coming and asked "why...?" but there seemed to be no understanding whatsoever, and her face was telling us "what the hell is your problem", as if drinking dry martini to octopus was something absolutely natural. Other then that, the food was just gorgeous, we had two types of pasta, perfectly al dente, the chardonnay was ideally chilled, the ambiant most romantic and elegant. If only the waitress could be nicer and smile a bit it would be 100% perfect. Perhaps noone had told her that people come to the place like Amarone to celebrate (occassions or just life) and they want to be treated special? All in all it seemed like fantastic food experience was a bit spoiled by the unprepared waitress.
