“Perfect location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Spatz hotel for three nights April 2013 and I couldn't have been happier with the choice of accommodation. The hotel is in an ideal location with lots of attractions and things to do within walking distance. The staff are extremely friendly and speak very good English. At the end of our stay we were given a loyalty card which gets you a 10% discount off staying in the hotel again.

We stayed in room four which is at the front of the hotel and, as previous reviews have commented you can hear the comings and goings from the street below. That said, however, there was no noise through the night and our sleep was not disturbed (who wants to lie in on holiday anyway!)

We took a walk to the main square which is beautiful and definitely worth a visit, as is Wawel castle (also walking distance).

We ate in the Mexican restaurant in the hotel on our first night, given the chance again I would skip this and opt for one of the many beautiful restaurants dotted around Krakow. There are lots of places to eat in the main square but it is also worth exploring the side streets (every street you turn down has an eatery of some kind!)

At the back of the hotel is a place called Plac Nowy, if your looking for nice bars and (of course) more restaurants, then head here. Just past Plac Nowy is the Jewish Quarter which we didn't really get chance to explore.

We hired a driver for one day to take us to Auschwitz and the Salt mines, he was very friendly and spoke very good English.

We are already talking about going back and would stay in the same hotel. Krakow is a beautiful place and I would recommend it to anyone!

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Spatz and i have no complaints about the place. Amazing hotel, lovely deco and the staff were very helpful (even providing us with ironing board, iron and adapter plugs) Rooms are a lot more spacious than the pictures show. Location is perfect with less than a ten minute walk to the main sqaure.

Room Tip: 19 was huge!

We stayed in a more expensive room (6) it was ok but for the money no where near worth it,we could have got something far nicer for this price however the cheap rooms which we had last time are worth it.We visited on our honeymoon as we love poland and the area which the hotel is located, the restaurant and bar downstairs are a big plus.

We requested the room to be cleaned most days as we needed fresh towels and more tea/coffee,when the cleaners came in they appeared to only make the beds, didnt clean the floor (wooden flooring) which we would expect in most hotels. We where not given any toilet rolls or water when it was cleaned which was bad :S I did however just pick some up myself when i seen the cupboard open and some on the trolley instead of going downstairs for toilet rolls which I didnt want to do.

The staff on front desk where helpful however the hotel appeared to only have 1 iron in the whole place and no matter how many times we asked the iron was always in someone else s room,i think the hotel should invest in another iron in the near future.

Next time we visit poland we will be staying somewhere else, the taxi driver seemed to wonder why we where staying at the spatz hotel maybe he thought it wasnt a good choice?Love krakow but we wont stay here again

To anyone new to poland the cheap rooms here are good for visiting the old town, jewish quarter and its about 10 minutes walk to the main square.Top location

Room Tip: room 6 is expensive for what it is but the cheap rooms on the top floor are good, spacey

Spatz was ideal for what we needed; we stayed for four nights and just wanted a base to come to at the end of our days exploring the city. Yes there are lots of stairs but, if you're not physically unable to walk up them, then there should be no problem; we all need the exercise! The staff even offer to carry your bags for you if you can't do it yourself.

The room (no. 19) was very clean and the decor was bright and modern; it was really spacious and well maintained. We had two single beds pushed together but this was no issue for us (in fact was very funny when hubby slipped down the middle!!). I think it's a great idea to do cleaning on request as, if you're only there for a few days like us, then surely you don't need it cleaned every day. If your stay is longer then this might be a bugbear however.

We could hear a bit of noise from the bar downstairs but as I had earplugs it didn't keep me up at night and hubby wasn't bothered by it. The only thing that was annoying and affected out sleep was the roadworks outside our window at 22:45 (of course nothing to do with the hotel itself).

Can't comment on the bar or restaurant as we chose to explore the city a bit and pick different places to eat. The hotel is only a short walk from the main square and there are loads of great restaurants to choose from. (we found this place which was very nice http://www.restauracja-bazylia.pl/)

The only (small) negatives for us were the Wifi that didn't work properly (signal kept cutting out) and the room was very hot which did make it hard to sleep at times.

Hotel room was spotlessly clean. Contemporary decor. Location great, 10 min walk to old area, wawel castle, cloth hall. The best bars and cares are right here near the hotel though. Lovely jewish food all around, and the manzana restaurant, in base of hotel is amazing. The best Mexican food I've had, and the cheapest. Lovely bar, great cocktails. This is a great hotel. Will definately return.

Aparthotel Spatz is in a brilliant location on the edge of the Jewish district. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size , spotlessly clean (they only clean on request which they did once during our stay), shower was good with nice shower gel no shampoo etc.,the double bed was 2 beds pushed together but you get that in a lot of places now. The restaurant was lovely, you do not get a lot of food but what you do get is lovely, not too expensive either. We did not try the breakfast as there were a lot of places nearby. Be warned, we stayed in a room at the front of the property on the first floor which was incredibly noisy with street noise until about 3 am, in fairness we did not ask to be moved as each night we were so tired we thought we'd drop straight off but no such luck. But for the price it's brilliant

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and it was a pleasant stay. Literally next door tot he hotel is a Mecian restaurant and it does have amazing ribs, definitely worth to order. As for the room of the hotel, we stayed on the top floor. The size of the room was very big but it did lack of cupboard space to put your clothes. In the bathroom it didn't have a hooks so you can hang your towers or clothes. We had two small windows which didn't have any curtains so I used the two chairs to shield people from the other building looking into our room. The doors to the rooms are very thin so you can hear your naieghbours. There are no lifts to the rooms so if you have a heavy suitcase, ask for a lower level floor. The staff was very helpful. as for the tours, it is best to go to the main street in the old town and next to the church, there is a tour operator which will sell you cheaper tours.
