“pretty good”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

Krakow Zoo is located in the middle of the forest. It's hard to get there from the center of Krakow. Tickets are cheap. Unfortunately, the zoo was under renovation, and not all of the animals we were able to see. It should not have a place in the tourist season. Good entertainment for families with children, but only on the day of nice weather.

“Great little zoo.”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

We visited Krakow zoo in the afternoon and got there on the 134 bus which stopped very close to our hotel and only took 15 minutes. You get the same bus back into Krakow centre so it's very easy to get to. Entry was only 18zl and we would have paid for an English guide had there been one. There was also no map provided so we just wandered around the zoo until we found a large map towards the rear of the park, although all in Polish.

The zoo itself may be small but it has a fantastic range of animals. We saw some animals that we have never seen before in other zoos and a huge range of cats, including sand cats an jungle cats which were new to us. The jaguar also had cubs which were lovely to see. The nocturnal house was very good too, again containing species I had never seen represented in other zoos such as the sugar glider and the kinkajou.

As we visited later in the afternoon, arriving at the zoo about 2 o'clock, we caught feeding time for most of the animals, including all of the cats. This was great as all of the animals were then more active.

The zoo is set in beautiful surroundings and the woods were stunning for our visit, making for some of the most amazing scenery I've seen at any zoo.

If you have a spare morning or afternoon then this is definitely worth a visit for every animal lover, not just families.

“Not Bad”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

For the money, Krakow Zoo is not a bad place to visit. When we visited, they were in the middle of renovations so there were a lot of vehicles moving around, but this didn't distract too much from the wide variety of animals they had. Brilliant!

“Great Zoo”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

I really enjoyed myself at Krakow Zoo. It is not huge which means you can walk around it at a leisurely pace quite easily, yet there is a wide enough variety of animals to qualify it as a zoo. We saw elephants, big cats, zebras, camels, primates, nocturnal creatures, fish, lizards, petting animals and meerkats! Unfortunately we did not see any giraffes as they are currently having a new home built for them. The park was very quiet and clean and seemed to be well managed.

Entrance was 18 zl and we got there by the 134 bus from the Stadium (which is a little way out of town and can be reached by the 502 bus or others I cant remember). It would be nicer for tourists if there was a bus service from the Old Town rather than the suburbs. If there is an englsh guide book for sale at the entrance I would recommend buying it as the only english information available inside the zoo is the common name of the species.

“Good for a day trip out”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

I decided to go to Krakow Zoo for a day trip, just to get out of the city. I got the no.134 bus outside Cracovia Stadium, it drops you right at the zoo and you catch the bus back from the same place. It cost 18zl entrance adult, the zoo is set in beautiful gardens. Most of the exhibits are outdoors in the natural setting of the surrounding Wolski Forest. There are lots of different birds, brightly coloured pheasants, parrots. flamingos, black swans, other species whose names I can't remember. I especially love the Meerkats, they are so funny and I like the fact that one is so close to most of the animals. Wolves, big cats, small cats ,chimps, elephants, camels, lamas, the list is endless, some animals I had never seen before. It takes a while to get around as there is so much to see. There is also a petting zoo for the kids, with donkeys, ponies, sheep, goats . Other smaller creatures are housed inside.
If your feeling hungry then plenty of snack bars to choose from. There are also walking trails you can follow through the forest if you have time to spare. A great day out!
