I stayed at this hostel for six days, and enjoyed my stay very much. It felt more as a Bed and Breakfast place rather than a hostel. That's a plus!
PROS (not in any order):
1. Very clean
2. Friendly staff
3. Pretty courtyard
4. Filling breakfast
5. Quiet place
6. Free WiFi
7. Not crowded
8. Close to tram station

CONS:
1. Far from Old Town
2. Only one main bathroom

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room

we stayed here for a couple of days, as soon as we arrived, the staff were very friendly and gave us a free map and showed us everywhere to go and told us about prices and when the best time is to go etc! very helpful! the room was lovely as was the bathroom! the breakfast was also lovely! easily accessible from the train station and the centre of the city! there was free wifi and internet access and you could chill in the kitchen/living room area and all the other guests and staff were also very friendly! the price was a bargain and by far the best place we stayed during our travels round europe! would stay again any time!

The hostel is small - it feels like home really. The staff is great. The breakfast is nice. To get there you have to go by tram - it takes about 15 minutes ( more or less) and than walk for 5 minutes.

This hostel is fun to stay in, the staff is welcoming and friendly and it REALLY was cleaner than many 4 stars hotels I stayed in. Although it is not directly in the city centre, the 20 min. walk along Vistula river is worth it (or you just get on the tram and you are in the centre in 5 min.)

Normally don’t stay in Hostels, but my stay here changed all that and will definitely try more! It lives up to its ratings by others!
Rather than a typical hostel full of dorms - it is actually a 5 bedroom house with one mixed dorm and others which are twins, singles and even with en-suite. Even the shared bathroom is actually homely and clean, and not the hostel type row of showers where you shed clothes and inhibitions before you enter!
My single room also had a private balcony with plants in shoes (see photo), a map to pin locate previous residents , a native American musical pipe and memories all over! Ambience in a hostel - I never thought I'd see!
In addition is the common room downstairs which also functions as the breakfast place (yes breakfast is included), the kitchen to heat any takeaways, and shared television and an internet counter to check the weather, exchange stories, watch DVDs in the evenings and make friends - I had an elderly sweet Canadian couple (who presented us all with maple leaf pins), a young student and worker from UK and some Slovakian backpackers as co - tenants!

But the best part are the keepers - Aga and colleague look after the place well, with a female touch for cleanliness, friendliness, easy advice and care - if you get friendly enough (and its easy!) they even pack you a snack as you leave for the day! And all at the fraction of the price at a hotel

Krakow itself is a lovely city with a UNESCO heritage tagged city centre, a lovely castle overlooking the pretty and aptly named river Vistula - with its lovely vistas. The hostel is a short tram ride away, but if you are not averse to walking, a lovely 10 minute along the river is beautiful with Wavell views better than the Sheraton along the way!

This was our first time staying at a hostel and we couldn't have picked a better one. The staff is amazing and they go above and beyond to help you out with your trip in Krakow. Gregory, our host, sets up an amazing breakfast every morning and he even adds in some fun with his "apple celebration" or "breakfast lottery". He even packed us a lunch for our journey home. The rooms and bathroom are very clean and super cute. There's a bus station (Salwator) that's about a 5-minute walk. I highly recommend the 30-minute walk to the Krakow Market Square. Overall, we loved our experience in Krakow and glad we chose to stay at Elephant on the Moon.

We stayed here two nights in August near the beginning of an 18 day trip through 9 countries in Europe, and we hated to leave! This is by far our favorite hostel and exceeded our expectations in every way! From the email before we arrived giving us directions to the place, to our early arrival (coming in from the 7:20 a.m. train from Prague) when we were greeted and welcomed with coffee, breakfast, and even given the chance to take showers and rest, through the morning we left with our bags of goodies to munch along our journey, we were impressed with this place and the incredible people who run it.

The hostel was immaculately clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing, fun, and friendly. We felt like welcome guests in the warm, safe, and secure home of friends. We slept like rocks after winding down from long days of sightseeing in the comfortable atmosphere of the hostel and its serene garden. The location, for us, was ideal; the hostel is located on a peaceful, quiet street in Krakow, and everything we wanted to see was within 20 minutes walking distance (at a leisurely pace). The public transportation also appeared to be convenient, and when we were just tired of walking and decided we wanted a cab to take us to dinner, Gregory called one for us and got us much better rates than we'd been quoted on the street.

The staff is amazing! Gregory, Aga, and Magda all gave us advice and helped us figure out how on earth to fit in all we hoped to see in our 3 days in Krakow. They expressed genuine interest, and we had some really great laughs figuring out where we were trying to go since we were slaughtering the Polish names of places (and then trying to learn to pronounce them correctly.) We were provided with maps, brochures, and even information regarding which museums and sites have free admission on specific days of the week. We had also hoped to visit the town of Jaslo, which was going to take most of a day in travel, and Gregory offered the possibility of hiring a private driver, which was exactly what we'd hoped we might be able to do when trying to plan this trip but weren’t sure how to arrange. (Of course we paid to have a private driver, but the price was extremely reasonable, and we had an informative tour guide all to ourselves for an entire day! Plus, we'd saved on most the admissions with their advice.) Instead of telling us that we'd planned to see too much in a short time, they helped make it possible to do so. Aga even arranged with our driver the pick up of our bags on our last day so that we could spend another day seeing the sights without lugging them around after we had checked out! I wouldn't expect this exceptional level of service at a 5-star hotel, and we paid only to stay in a hostel.

Although we arrived right at the end of summer tourist season and didn’t spend much time with other guests in the backpackers’ café, we walked away knowing we have made friends in one of the best places we’ve ever spent a vacation. We can’t recommend Elephant on the Moon highly enough; we will definitely go back to Krakow, and we can’t wait to stay here again!
