“Bluebell apartments Krakow”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

Excellent value for money. Staff are very helpful. Location great too. The apartments dont look great from the outside and the dark entrance hall but if you are looking for a comfortable warm room near to the centre these are great . Basic kitchen utensils , fridge and kettle. Shower.
I would recommend if you are on a budget

We have just returned form a 3 night stay at the Bluebell apartments, the apartments where approx 15/20 walk from train station which we walked on arrival, the tram stop is right outside apartments which will take you back to the station which we used on departure. The apartments look a little gloomy from the outside and on entrance they did, but once you entered reception and the small but practical dining room it was warm and the staff where pleasant. Our room consisted of 3 single beds and a separate room with double bed, small kitchen area and balcony to the rear. The rooms were very warm, the shower was hot and we had no problems at all with the room. The breakfast was basic but adequate. The tram noise did not affect us, we were on the front on the 2nd floor and although the trams passed right under us they are not at all a problem. The apartments are approx 15 minute to the main square so very central to all amenities. We were very happy with the apartments, location and price. Krakow is a beautiful place and with the snow and Xmas decorations still up in the square til end January it was the place to be.

We Stayed at Blue Bells Apartment for 4 nights in mid January & subject to a couple of minor reservations we would thoroughly recommend the Blue Bell apartments.

Upon arrival don't be perturbed by the poor exterior, once inside we were greeted by friendly staff & told our double room had been upgraded to a small apartment.
The room was on the first floor on the corner of the front of the building with a large bay window looking out over a busy crossroads with cars & trams running in four directions .
Yes the room was a little tired & inevitably there was traffic noise, mainly from the trams, but it wasn't really a problem & the hum had quite an authentic feel.

It snowed throughout our whole stay, but the room was warm & cosy, we had everything we needed, including a basic kitchenette with a kettle. coffee and tea facilities were provided, as well as plates and cutlery, enough to prepare a very simple meal.

The shower was brilliant with seemingly constant hot water & to top it all we had a large very comfortable double bed ( None of your single mattresses pushed together which seems to be the norm when you ask for a double bed abroad these days)
The people at the reception were all friendly and helpful.

Probably the best thing about the Blue Bells Apartments is the location. We hardly used any public transport & went everywhere on foot: the old town, Kazimierz, Kleparz, Pódgorze, the station. We actually walked to the hotel on the day of the arrival from the station, which took about 15 mins.

Overall very good value for money & would highly recommend staying.

I have stayed here twice. First I stayed in a premium double room. It was not the biggest of rooms but it had all the facilities I could have wanted and also, with it being winter, it warmed up very quickly and was a very cosy room. The second I believe I was put in by accident as it was more of an apartment for a family. No complaints though, the room was huge with great facilities. I would very much recommend it for all sorts of travellers. If I didn't have my own flat in Kraków now then I would be back!

Room Tip: Both rooms I stayed in were great.

It is a bargain and for that price (99 zloty for 3 nights), you dont expect a five star place. For the money paid it was excellent value.
Cons: lack of sound proofing, you can hear everything from apartments all around you- at first the noise was that clear i thought someone was entering my apartment. but it was someone upstairs entering their apartment. after the first night i can became use to noise. There are no blackout blinds, so if you need darkness to sleep in- take a sleeping mask and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper for i was in apartment 14 and there was a lot of tram noise. heavy sleeper so it didnt bother me.

Pros: Friendly receptionist, breakfast is a simple but quality affair. The hotel is ideally located between the market square and jewish quarter. both are walkable from the hotel. The hotel who offers a packed lunch which was great for i had organised a day trip to the nazi German extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The lunch was huge for one person and so fresh. I asked the receptionist to call me a cab so I could go to the airport, she organised a shuttle bus for me which worked out to be nice and cheap. The heating in the apartment was awesome and considering it was snowing when i was in Krakow- that was appreciated.

Overall a really good hotel and I would stay there again

I'm not sure how anyone can moan about bluebells, with how cheap it was we were slightly worried and expecting a cockroach infested shack but we were very pleasantly surprised!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms weren't luxury but they were very clean, cleaned daily with fresh towels etc, warm - we were there in January and its nice to get back to a warm room when you've been in the cold all day! People on here have complained about the noise of the trams, you can here them (we were on the 2nd floor) but it was never so loud that it affected our sleep! The location is perfect - half way between the old town and jewish quarter!

If you're expecting luxury then this isnt the place for you, if you want something thats value for money, clean, friendly and in a good location than I would definately recommend!

All in all a very pleasant stay, thoroughly enjoyed Krakow!
