We visited Krakow in October and stayed at Hotel Matejko for four nights. The hotel is clean and quiet and has a good breakfast buffet.
It is not luxury but everything is of good standard and just perfect for a nice weekend.

Pretty basic hotel but like most people on a sight seeing holiday I did not spend much time in the room. Continental breakfast but nothing to get excited about. However many cafes and restaurants just a stroll away. Make sure you have earplugs to avoid being woken by the church bells across the road!

While the hotel is clean and very close to both the Old Town and Railway station, it does not have all the facilities it claims. The restaurant, such as it is, is only used for continental breakfast nothing else. It's obvious there once was a full restaurant service here, but no more.

There is no bar so you have to go out for a drink even if you don't feel like it. No a/c in our room and would have been good on our first day here. Overall feel let down, can't even get ice to have drink in your own room.

It's also right next to a church and the bells sound every early morning, from around 5am. Sound nice during the day but not in the a.m!

Room Tip: Try to get a room as far away from the church as possible.

This fairly large hotel is in a brilliant location for anyone exploring Krakow, it is just around the corner from the main railway station / shopping centre and just a few hundred metres from the Barbican - one of the towers on the old city wall (and a must see attraction). Most of the wall has been demolished and its location turned into a ribbon park 50-100 m wide surrounding the mostly pedestrianised centre of Krakow, meaning you can have a pleasant stroll to wherever you want to go. There are great choices for eating and drinking very close which are not as commercial as many in the city. There's also a farmers market just in the next street (Kleparski). The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and the staff welcoming, wifi fast on all floors. The breakfast (included in our stay) offers a very wide choice which you have to take advantage of, as (like most places of this size) it's much the same each day. Our room didn't have air con - not an issue in June

Room Tip: If you like having the window open you may prefer rooms at the back or opening west onto Place Jana Matejki as it is a much quieter street.

Location is good, that's about it. Breakfast is ok but no more, rooms have no AC and it seems like they think a good time to renovate the building is around 3-5 am... they also messed up our booking to Auschwitz so we had to fix a new booking by ourselves later for the same day.....
