Sincerely this is a very convenient hotel, considering location(3 minutes from Central station, 5 minutes from Florian Street). Only negative points: lack of airconditioning on a very hot day and they shoud improve breakfast, especially the fruit juices are very artificial. But for the reasonable price paid, it is well worth. Besides, people is very wellcoming.

As others have said, an excellent location for the OLD TOWN, Bus and railway stations BUT choose your room with care. Reasonably warm when we arrived but no air con or fans-no problem-open the large windows-but not if you're in a room near to the bus stop! Very noisy and close to the bells of the nearby church.
Breakfast good as was the room otherwise. Would certainly go back-but with the right room.Oh and don't forget to leave some cash to pay the local city tax-and the wifi which was not expensive but not free.

We stayed 2 nights at Matejko Hotel. It is good value and it is in a great location, 5 minutes from the Barbican and 5 minutes from the Galleria Krakowska shopping centre (entrance to the Train Station). The central market is also less than 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The rooms are quite basic, spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is quite large. Our room was located on the side of the church so we woke up when the bells chimed at 6am, but we went back to sleep as they did not chime again. The view of the street is quite nice and it was not noisy at night.

The buffet breakfast had a good choice of breads, meats, cheese, cereal, fruit, juices and a really good coffee machine which also had hot chocolate.

The only fault I find with this hotel is that it does not have free wi-fi and you have to pay for hourly connection (4 PLN for 1 hour or 6 PLN for 2 hours). This may not be important to most travellers but in this day and age when checking emails and going online is second nature you may need it. The room does not have a fridge or kettle for coffee/tea but for the price of the room we did not expect to find one.

If you are happy with basic comfort at a great location for a very good price this is the hotel for you. However, if you are looking for modern luxury you will not find it here and you are better off going to the Puro Hotel which is opening soon 5 minutes from this hotel, directly opposite the Galleria Krakowska shopping centre.

As many others reviews have stated, this hotel is excellent value and perfectly placed so you don't waste time getting from train or bus station or to the Old Town for sightseeing. High ceiling rooms make them feel spacious with a good shower in a spotless bathroom. Only problem was the noise at night since in hot weather you need windows wide open. No A/C obvious. Traffic noise is very intrusive then, especially buses/trams which stop under the rooms facing the beautiful church opposite, seemingly through most of the night! Church bells might annoy some but you do get used to them and anyway, you'll be too tired to care after a busy day sightseein! 3 good restaurants right next to the hotel. Jarema more upmarket Polish, but the other 2 are amazing value, including the Glonojad vegetarian - £3/4 for a main course!). The reception staff will also direct you to the supermarket just 5 mins away. Bottled water was provided the first but not subsequent days which was a pity during a very hot week. Likewise tea and coffee making facilities in the room would make it even better. We took the Auschwitz and Salt Mine one day tour with KrakowTrip which was brilliant and highly recommend for their excellent, kind service and attention to detail. We were collected from the hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe a room overlooking the back courtyard would be quieter though not so pretty a view.

We only stayed overnight as part of a quick visit to Auschwitz but found this hotel in a great location, a short walk from the railway station and main market square. The rooms were clean and quite spacious. We managed to get the room with a balcony facing out onto the road, it wasn't noisy. breakfast was good and was great value for money!

Room Tip: Great location and appears quite central in town!

Stayed at Matejko on a stag trip and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of hotel both on the main reception area and the rooms themselves considering the budget rate we paid. Service was helpful and english was decent. Other areas of the hotel were nothing to shout about i.e. breakfast in the morning and the bar area were poor but for what we needed it was perfect with a short walk to the main square in the city centre.
