“Excellent location”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Stayed here for 5 nights July 2012, the location is really good with lots to do within walking distance. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly, a great base. The area is lively, there was a bar across the road which was quite noisy some nights but hey they were very funny and entertaining (breaking into song "always look on the bright side of life" at 2.00am, you had to laugh and agree).

Room Tip: Stay at the back of the hotel if you are a light sleeper.

Stayed 4 nights In the Astoria last week and we found nothing to complain, the staff on reception desk and dining area where lovely .The room was clean .plenty of hot water and toiletries and clean towels changed daily.Breakfast very good from 7 to 10.The Hotel Is near to a few bars and you will hear a few drunken lads returning to to various hotels but no major problem.
We are hoping to return to Krakow end of September and we shall return to the Astoria no hesitation .Thank you to all the staff of the Astoria for a lovely 4 days stay.

Room Tip: Our room was In the front so you will hear some noise.

The location for visiting the Kazimierz is fantastic. The rest of the city, the Stare Miasto and the castle is 10/15 minutes walk. Near the hotel there are the principal attractions of the Kazimierz (synagogues and Plac Nowy) and lots of restaurants. The hotel propose also tours for the main attractions. The rooms are not so pretentious and very basic. But you'll spend the most of your time out of the hotel! The breakfast is included but food end rapidly also if is not so crowded and the refill is slow. The receptionists are pleasant and friendly. Rooms are clean and quite (my room was not on the main street).

We arrived at the Astoria to find our long standing room reservations had been given away. No prior warnings. We were put into another hotel. We were given no adequate explanation and no apologies. The staff were inefficient and indifferent. We were given a free meal as some sort of compensation but told "you mustn't eat too much"! We then were not given a full menu but a scrappy piece of paper with choice to two starters, two mains. two desserts and no drinks. Met other people who had been treated the same way. Management were conspicuous by their absence. Valuable holiday time wasted over two days by trying to sort out return transfer. Would not recommend this hotel at all.

We stayed here for 1 night in April because our other hotel did not have an available room for our last night in Krakow. Astoria was a bit disappointing after our stay at our original hotel which we found to be perfect. We were given a large triple room for two people which was very basic and needed to be vacuumed. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder leaving one in an odd position when TP was needed. There were only a few TV channels as others were unwatchable because they kept pixelating. I like a bit of TV before bed and news in the morning. I could have tolerated this but there was no wi-fi reception in the room and so I couldn't use my tablet. They claimed wi-fi was available and you could log on to the network but it was either so slow it was useless or we kept getting kicked off the network.

The room was quieter than I thought it might be as it was a front room. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was very good. This was the one thing that was better than our original hotel and that breakfast was pretty good. The location was convenient and Krakow is a great city.

While some of the things I mentioned may seem trivial, for the price I paid I expected better. I didn't find it to be a good value.

Never having been to Krakow previously I wasn't sure where to stay but did some research. Decided that Kazimierz was the place and this was the hotel. Great choice, everything cleaned daily in the hotel and at the price could not have asked for more. Even a contingent of Danish teenagers didn't cause a problem.Recommended.
