Short and sweet and not to be missed.. An historic street that has somehow escaped the depredations of business and mass tourism... a lovely walk with the castle as your reward at one end.. Along the way there are a couple of nice garden restaurants tucked away... peaceful and a blessed escape from the crowds not far away in the Market Square.. The Hotel Copernicus near Wawel castle is perhaps the finest in Krakow..( President Bush stayed there when he visited) It also has a very fine restaurant serving excellent food.. check out the menu as you walk by.. expensive for Poles but a bargain compared to some European cities... This street is an example of what the city COULD do if it put its foot down to protect the Old City from cheap commercialism.

A walk down this street ... where kings from other countries used to pass when visiting Wavel ... gives you an idea of how Krakow looked in the middle ages as many of the preserved buildings date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It's an enjoyable and cool walk (lots of shade) with no traffic away from the crowds of the Main Market Square. You can also visit the house where John Paul II lived when he was Bishop of Krakow. Altogether a nice way to spend an hour or two.

Travel back in time. The most charming street. Very romantic and quiet. We also visited the house were pope John Paul II lived, when bishop of Krakow located there.

If you can somehow contrive to walk down this street around 5 am, and to find it completely deserted, it'll give you a taste of history. But even at its worst, it's a pretty, picturesque and relatively quiet street.

Nice (mostly renaissance) buildings. On hot days, lots of shades, so easy walking while admiring everything. No cars! (as in most of the touristic streets).
